Gave Apollo 13 mother water & double dose of Sensizym. Checked trichones on that plant. This time, I looked at a shay leaf off of the bottom of the bud just below the cola of the biggest branch. The resin glands were mostly opaque with a couple of amber ones here and there. There was even still some clear ones with perfectly round heads still. Looks like one more watering, then after the bucket goes light again, its scissors time. The clone of Apollo 13 should be a day or two behind the mother as far as watering goes.


Plan for Apollo 13


Mother: Water on Thursday, harvest on Saturday night/sunday morning
Clone: Water on Wednesday, Water on Saturday, Harvest Monday night/Tuesday morning

One thing I thought I would mention. All throughout the flowering phase of Crop 1, I moved the 2 600 w HPS lights around by hand. Every 3 hours, I moved the lights so that throughout the 12 hour day, every corner of the crop got highly concentrated light. The plants in the middle both ways were getting pounded virtually all day. As things progressed, more shoots came up through the canopy. As this was happening, I would move the taller shoots out of the way, especially on the 4' x 4' area that had 10 clones that were 2 feet tall little bushes when they went in. This is probably essential for OG Kush and even Apollo 13, since this is my first ScroG, maybe it works like that for all strains. These two strains seemed to stretch nicely, especially OG Kush, as tiny branches at the bottom have buds on them in week 7 that are too heavy for the stem to support. What I do is this: Every time I move the lights, I move all the big branches out from under the light. Then, I find each shoot, pull it straight up, then lay it to the side on the shoots that were there already. They usually just stick to the older shoots like Velcro, but sometimes you have to hug the branches together with the broad leaf stems. Its easy, but you get your fingers sticky! The big branches with their big colas are easy to move just outside of the light at all four positions. I am POSITIVE that my yield will be dramatically increased compared to the method of just whacking off all the scraggle as it came in or just doing nothing and keeping the lights fixed, only moving tall branches out of the middle. Next time there won't be as much congestion as I will have 6 plants on each 4'x4' side of the tent. Either way, congested or not, moving lights around is a good idea. There are only 2 plants on the left side and the trellis looks like an army of colas. So, yeah, I read a few things about scrog, but I never heard too much mention about things like moving lights around and moving shoots around so everything eventually becomes something. In a lot of cases, these shoots became colas with side buds 6 to 8 inches below the cola. Some of these look like they will end up in the 5 gram neighborhood. These are shoots I normally cut off in a SOG. Usually, around week 4 of flowering. Kind of long winded, but I haven't been very detailed about things. If there is ever a question people, don't hesitate – I have nothing to hide!



Shots out to GO for making a great line of organics. I was asked before I started this crop, do you check the pH when using the GO line, even though they tell you on their website that it is not necessary? Most of the times, I did check it, to be honest. I'm kinda nervous pouring a shit ton of hot or based out liquids into my mix. Almost every time I checked it, it was near 7 AFTER adding the nutes/benies to bubble stoned tap water that averages 8 to 8.4 out of the can. I don't have a soil pH tester, but the run-off is always about the same as the pour down when using just water. And when watering with just water or just water and Sensizym, then yeah, I always put that between 6.5 and 7. Thanks for bearing with me, peace, have a good New Years, I KNOW I AM GOING TO! [FONT=Times New Roman, serif]Sorry about the lack of pics for harvest time... I was way too busy to think about it. Not a huge yield overall, 12 plants I got 21 zips cured out. You don't hear me complaining, the OG Kush was the worst copy of that strain I ever came in contact with. It barely has that Kush taste and smell, and only once in a while do you smell the sweet OG Kush smell in a grinder fart. The taste was great, smooth, earthy, slight hash plant taste, and a controllable lung expansion where you can stop from choking on it. Bad genetics. I have 2 of them in crop2 and 1 in crop 3. After that, I'm done with blind clone strain runs. I can't totally flame the guy who sold it to me. The Apollo 13 is THE BOMB and the NL is performing really well in clone and veg situations. Buzz Report for Apollo 13....

First toke: Holy Shit! We have lift Off.
Next Toke: We are in Deep Space, holding the joint till it burns out.
Toke 3: Ligjht it back up and hit it hard, like I didn't know it would expand. BAM! I'm choking until I almost got sick. Eyes and viens bulging out of my red face, I think my body temp just went up a degree or 2. The buzz is insane intense. I want to do something cool like catching up the grow journal . Sitting on the couch and spacing out on TV simply won't work for this buzz.

TWENTY MINUTES LATER

My eyelids feel like there is paste drying on the corners of them. The munchies are here, even though I just ate a full diner. Fuckit, I go for something that sounds good - cookie. I grab 5 Chips Ahoy. Ten minutes later, I get the rest of the bag. The next morning, when I wake up, my memory of the night before is foggy- not total amnesia, but not total recall either. I still feel stoned, but its a clumbsy 2 beer kinda stone. I'm not hungry, but I will eat eventually, COFFEE!!!!! I go back to the living room and notice a photo on my camera - Its my footprint, on the Moon!

...OG Kush

I need to fall asleep I reach for the OG Kush. Two hits is all it takes. Tastes awesome, but not the OGK I remember (from like, a week ago) the shit is still the most common street name for all weed better than regs, so no one will really care. I've been sold some "OG Kush" before that was definately something else. The buzz? It is a full on body rush while toking. I can feel my heartbeat in my toes. THen, after blowing the hit out, its like Nitrous - the immediate effects come rushing in like a tidlewave, even on the first toke. The heartbeat increases and feels like a heavy drum beating in the chest. Sleep can be achieved with just half a joint no matter how bad the insomnia is, and if you smoke too much, you are going down for the count within the hour so put in a movie that you don't care about, hit it three or four times, and set your clock...

I "compassionately distributed" my "overage" to caregivers and patients from Detroit to Bay City. Nothing but rave reviews, even on the lack luster OG Kush. Someone actually told me that they thought the Apollo 13 taste/smell was off. I read about it online, but this is my first experience smoking Apollo 13 ever so I can't know for sure, but when growing - yeah, it smelled like dirty diapers and green peppers. The OG Kush, like I have read many times before, did make my teeth hurt. I aint talkin about a toothache either, I'm talking about so much pain that I just wanted to die at times. I had a tooth infection before, and this shit was worse than that. Somehow I still fell asleep after smoking it. My favorite was the 50/50's Apollo/OG joints. Both of these strains - especially the Apollo 13, were caked in THC. Caked is putting it mildly - the Apollo 13 will fill your keef box up before you even check it to see if there's dust. Here goes the last 2 grams of Crop 1... It all boiled down to this 2 gram nug I saved for myself...



Bad lighting makes it look like it got slimed! I seen a pic online of Apollo 13 looked just like this.















That's okay, don't mail me your donations of free weed yet, crop 2 is almost ready, plus I built up a half ounce of roaches and 3 "caregivers" that owe me "donations"... so I don't think I'll be jonesin'....

My final farewell to crop 1... and an answer to a question I once pondered: Why do people write grow journals? Tell you why. Not to keep track of shit, we pros don't even really do that to be honest. Not to help a beginner - but I have looked to journals for answers to questions about particular strains, so I like this... if I could help someone get over a speedbump, that would be cool. Its all ego based really. I meet new people all the time, and they doubt my skills. I'm sick of telling people about the strains I grew, the genetic experiments, the massive outdoor gorilla grows I did in the 80's and 90s. I'm sick of people acting like they can hustle me like a toy... So from now on, if I can't show someone an active crop that I am working on, they can check here. I can't even begin to count how many times I actually cropped out in my life. Trial and error - I was done with that after year one. Stupid stress techniques that promise bigger buds/more resin production - I was done with all that shit when I was a teenager still. The only thing you will see in my journals is tried and true organic THC farming - because that's the true champion.

The person I got it from said it was from a clone who got it from another friend. I talked to a couple other people who knows the actual guys who all the clones I got for crop 1 came from, not the middleman. He told me he made them from a clone he made a mother plant he got from an old guy who told him that they were the clone only Apollo 13. He said his mother plant was 8 months old. That, to me, means the brother's grimm, but from all the things I now know, I doubt you will find any difference. Its just kinda cool to be rockin one of those old classic clone only strains. I also have an Airborne G13... I feel lucky. I followed all of the grow advice/tips that Subcool dropped in various grow reports/ smoke reports and write ups he did on the original Grimm and I am turning out crop 2 in a couple weeks, its 10 plants of that A13 and only 2 of that wak OG kush. My house smells so much better with the ratio reversed! Apollo - at the outset of buds, smells like this weird combo of baby shit and green peppers or something. You notice that? Now, during week 5, its a skunky lemonish smell. That G13xHashplant is an exciting one. I grew that years ago...

Airborne g-13 -- nice! Must be from the original brother's grimm seed stock because it wasn't around long and there weren't copycat seeds made at the time. sub's is a back cross from an a-13 cut, who knows maybe the same as yours. Curious how they compare. I've only grown a-11 previously. What I do notice is that at almost 3 weeks my medicine man smells like stinky weeds and the a-13 has just about no smell at all yet. the apollo line is just low odor... a-11 was a great stealth strain for smell.

yeah, the apollo 13 you practically have to pinch the bud to smell it. Once it a while you catch a strange whiff - but for the most part, it don't smell too profound. There are 10 Apollo's and 2 OG Kush. It's week 5 and from outside the room all you smell is OG Kush. Inside, there is a hint of lemon and skunk, but to get that baby diaper smell, you gotta brush up against some glands and smell your finger, being careful because she is VERY tacky.

The crop here in this journal WHEW! glad I grew that in the middle of winter when the windows were barely cracked. Ten OG Kush plants was like, my dad told me he smelled it about halfway down the driveway (which is about 5 car lengths long to the house edge).
