imo, if someone is hell bent on going on a killing spree, it doesn't really matter whether they use a gun or a knife, fly a plane into a building or put poison into a bottle of asprin.. sure, guns are used more often simply for the fact that they're available and do a very good job of killing as many people as you want in a very small amount of time... but if they're not available, i'm sure that person hell bent on killing would just move onto the next best option, w/e that would be..
murders and killing have existed long before guns have been available.. and i'm sure once guns are considered antique weapons, we will be just as sick and twisted and will come out with better ways to kill more people in shorter amounts of time..
imo, we need to look at what is wrong with american society that these type of people exist ... it seems to be more of a social issue then a weapon one imo.

I would agree it is a cultural thing. Fucking moral degradation of our society these days. I also think the ease of acquiring firearms helps, that people are more likely to die when a person is using a gun, and that having a gun might just give that nutso down the block the courage to actually go out there and pull the shit off.

Yep, the tragedy that happened in China is the kryptonite for the folks saying more gun laws are the answer. Laws never stopped crazy before. No gun, well I'm fucking crazy to begin with so I'll use a knife, or gas and a lighter, or a fucking tire iron because in case you forgot I'm fucking crazy.

the parents of this douche were teachers, yes, at least his mother that i know of.. in fact, the kids he killed were in his mothers class ffs.

i too hate the news.. can't stand it, never could.. i'll never understand why death and killings are news and love and nurturing have no place in our lives.. seems to be a bit backwards to me, but what do i know?

i honestly think this has a big part in the culture today.. how many serial killers can the average american name?? now how many noble peace prize winners can most of us name?
we give too much time an effort to those who do horrible things.. people want to become famous, what do they do?? they go on a killing spree.. imo, it should be if you want to become famous go adopt a few babies who need love, go feed the homeless, etc, etc...

I agree, I hate the news. If I'm at a resteraunt and they have the news on one of the TV's on the wall, I can't stomach to look at it for long without getting mad. It's just one bad thing after another from one commercial break to another. "There was a robbery here, a shooting here, a stabbing here, an arson here. *two seconds on a charity before commercial break. break ends* The weathers shitty. there was a car jacking here, a rape here" and on and on and on.

I remember when I was in high school, there was a kid that came to the U.S. from Venezuela to live with his cousin here, and he could not figure out why I kept trying to tell him (Even after being translated into Spanish)that he could not bring a Machete to school.
