Hi RIU,
This is to be my third grow. I've successfully grown white widow before and was pleased with the results. I believe I made a thread about it. I'll see if I can find it. Yep -> https://www.rollitup.org/cfl-fluorescent-lighting/495739-first-time-grow-stealth-fridge.html
I stopped updating it but I got to harvest and got a decent amount of bud for a first effort.
I learned a lot growing it and my other effort (don't know the strain. Got the seeds for free from my friend's brother. I think it was a haze cross. Whatever it was it was awful. He bought the 10 seeds for €17 which is never a good sign. 7 of them ended up being males and 1 of the remaining females had literally the worst case of foxtailing I've ever seen! It was also a pretty poor smoke.).
This time I "think" I have the knowledge and the materials to do it justice.
Here's the setup
It's a broken fridge/freezer unit in my shed, modified to be a pot production unit.
Flowering area.
1 125w 6400k cfl (attached to reflector), 2 42w 2700k cfls (also attached to reflector), 1 23w 2700Kk cfl (in a desk lamp with flexible neck for eventual side lighting). I've ordered another lamp and two y splitters that will hopefully be here in a week or two so I can add 3 more 23w 2700k cfls as more side lighting. The dimensions are roughly (h)24" (from the shelf), (w)19", (d)17". I've got a bathroom style extractor fan in the top left of the fridge, a PC fan blowing the hot air away from the 125w cfl and a 6" desk fan at the bottom to blow cooler air up into the plants (it's off at the moment because it's still quite chilly here in Ireland). I also have 2 more PC fans that I'm ready to throw in as intake fans or for circulation depending on the plants needs. Temps in there at the moment are between 18 and 20*C.
Vegging/Cloning area.
Previously I've only used this area to store my nutes, spare pots etc. but this time I've decided to turn it into a vegging area and to make some clones so I can eventually set up a perpetual grow.
1 23w 6400k cfl and 1 20w 4200k cfl (both in desk lamps with flexi necks). 2 pc fans, 1 as an extractor and 1 as an intake. Temps are about 17*C plus or minus a degree or two.
The Plants
I bought 5 White Widow seeds by Kula Seeds and they all germinated successfully about 2 weeks ago (Except the 5th plant in the pictures. It took 3 or 4 extra days to break the soil). They've been growing a bit slowly which I attribute to the cold weather we've been having the past few weeks.
The first 3 are in 7" pots and the 4th is in a 6" pot. They'll stay in these for the rest of their lives. I know ideally they'd be in larger containers but my fridge ain't got much room and I've done it before with these pots with good results. These 4 have today been switched to 12/12.
The 5th is currently in a 3" but I'll be transplanting it to a 5" tomorrow. It has been put on 20/4 in my vegging freezer.
I'm using Biobizz allmix as my soil. I have biogrow, biobloom and topmax (all by biobizz) to feed the ladies. I also have some Maxicrop seaweed extract, epsom salts and fish blood and bone mix to use if needs be.
I gave them their first feed of nutes 4 days ago. 1/4th strength biogrow and some 1/8th strength seaweed extract. They seemed to love it and I think it kick-started their growth (some of them only had 1 set of developed true leaves at that stage).
Anyway, I'll probably update this thread every week or two if any members of this wonderful community want to keep an eye on how I'm getting on.
Thanks in advance for your help and appreciation,
Darnel
