Kurple Fantasy from Imperial Genetics

So a friend from Portland told me about this strain called Kurple Fantasy, he'd picked some up from a grower there and was very impressed, and knowing my penchant for purple, said I could get said beans from Seedsherenow.com.

Which was really a bit of synchronicity considering I'd just finished reading Mr. Tanks thread on this seedbank and have been thinking about making a purchase just to test the waters. I'd already visited their site, but the Shortbread strain I'd been hoping to score was out of stock (as were a lot of my second and third choices), but dude named Dusty there explained, "the reason we are understocked right now is it's trade show season so a lot of our stock is pulled for those".

First off I have to compliment them on fast reply time and even taking time to explain and then gave me a discount code for my troubles, so while that doesn't put seeds in the soil, it helped ameliorate the disappointment I was feeling. Then getting the word from my friend on the Kurple Fantasy was like, right on time. I checked SHN, they had it in stock, so I pulled the trigger a pack just to check out their service and to have something to keep me occupied until I can get my hands on DJ's goodies ;?)

Anywho, after all that, lol, does anyone have any XP growing this strain? Other than a few smoke reports and some articles, haven't run across any grow logs, so I would surely appreciate the 411 on this strain or a nudge in the right direction for a grow log on these purple beauties ;?D

Here's some pics I've run across:

Never grown it know a lot who have. Shes a beast and will eat my partners mentor is part of imperial seeds. What your getting is the kurple fantasy#2 s1 I believe. The #1 is sicker and hard as shit to get ahold of. I supposedly have it when I want it ans haven't asked for it but ya sick strain real top notch shit imperial seeds is a good company and their breeders and growers in general are top notch

Thanks for the info Afgan King, sounds like this was a good choice then, I sure hope so. I've tried so many different strains the last few years and nothing quite measures up. I'd like to find a real solid keeper that I can work with for a while.

Cool, that's what I like to hear, limited number of variations on a theme and no bad genetics. So many strains have such a wide number of phenos, sometimes it's hard to believe that two plants came from the same mother, seriously. If you get those #1's I'd love to hear how they turn out dude ;?)

SCORE!!!! The Eagle has landed, I repeat the Eagle has landed!!!

Okay, not to get too jazzed about 6 beans arriving, lol, but I can officially state that this is the fastest I've received an order, ever. But then this is the first time I've bought seeds online from a U.S. based seed dealer too, normally I've dealt with Herbies exclusively for the past 4 years (before that the "shitty" Attitude, lol).

Btw, nothing but good xp fromt Herbies, but I may have to give much of my biz to Seedsherenow considering how they kept in contact, and had my seeds to me within 3 biz days of payment, and no customs to worry about (peace of mind is important to me).

First off, they gave me 6 seeds for the price of 5 (feminized Kurple Fantasy), which may just be a sales gimmick, but for the price of $65, plus $9.95 S&H, if the genetics live up to the hype, that's still a great deal. But on top of that, they sent me SIX FREEBIES to boot, which is pretty dang nice considering what I spent.

Now the only caveat is that I'm not sure what these beans actually are - one vial of 3 seeds is labeled "Dank Fruit Mix" and the other is "Mosca Mix". I did a quick search and haven't come up with any threads, does anyone know what these might be?

Now I'm not complaining, well maybe a skosh, and that's just because of my particular situation. That is, if I were somewhere I could grow outdoors (where it's legal ;?), I'd just toss em in a corner of my garden and see what's what (hoping to get to that place within the next couple of years).

But for now,I grow indoors with a limited space, and I just can't dedicate any room to some mystery seeds at this time. So unless I can get a handle on what they might be, they're not of much use to me at this time. But if I guess I can always save them until I do move, they should keep that long, or find someone willing to trade them for one or two beans of decent quality.

Overall, it's been a great experience so far, and I'm looking forward to getting these baby's popped this week. I'll check back with a report on viability as soon as that happens, and if anyone has any info on these freebies, I'd appreciate it greatly ;?)

Wow, talk about synchronicity, sometimes the world works in mysterious ways ;?) I know I just ordered from them, but I never really paid attention to exactly where they're located, I mean I knew it was in Oregon but figured they were further north for some reason.

But as it turns out these guys are in Grants Pass, which is just 30-40 miles from where I've been planning on moving to for the past couple of years. I still haven't decided on the exact local, in fact I'm planning on taking a trip out there next spring to look around and talk to some realtors (maybe do some spring skiing at Mt. Bachelor ;?). And now I have ANOTHER great reason to move there, how cool will that be having a seedbank just up the road from my house ;?D

6 for 6, so far it's looking good, and all 6 popped within 36 hrs.

Kurple Fantasy seeds popped.jpg

FYI, I always soak my seeds in straight 3% H2o2 for 30 minutes as a precautionary measure to kill any possible pathogens that might have hitched a ride (cuz unless you actually know the breeder, you can't know for certain what they may have been exposed to prior to being shipped to you, same reason you can end up with clones carrying diseases or pests like mites).

Then onto paper towels moistened (but not soaked) with filtered water and more peroxide (20% sol or 4:1) because I never know what's floating around in my house, lol, and then cover the plate with plastic wrap and leave above the fridge. I try to keep my house clean (not always successfully) so call it insurance, I don't want to take a chance and end up having to toss good genetics because they succumbed to damping off or some other infection or pest.

For those interested, one thing about peroxide, while it can do damage in too high a concentration, it does break down fairly rapidly with exposure to light, heat and the open air, so by the time the seeds have popped, much of it has degraded. The release of that extra oxygen molecule creates an oxidizing action which damages the cellular walls of pathogens, which is why it is an effective antiseptic.

Recently I read about a study by John's Hopkins Hospitals where a certain (undisclosed) concentration of H2O2 vapor can be used to sterilize a room, so I'm going to try using a humidifier filled with straight household 3% peroxide and a fan to circulate it, seal the grow room and leave it run for 90 minutes, and then turn on the exhaust fans to clear the air (as it says concentrated peroxide vapors can be toxic, though I doubt the concentrations I'm using leave anything to worry about ;?).

The main reason I want to try this is to see if I can destroy the fungal spores that have caused me a few problems in the past, including some leaf blight as well as bud mold in a recent grow I finished (about 3 oz's of super-dense of Immense Bulk ended up in the trash). Well, that was a bit off topic, lol, so we will now return you to your regularly scheduled programming, which is already in progress ;?D

Update: Well after popping the 6 feminised Kurple Fantasy, I started noticing issues right away. Two turned out to have mutations, (one had cotyledons but no leaves) and on the other the cotyledons stayed closed (even after removing the shell) and after a week I pried them open to find the leaves flat and dried out like they'e been pressed in a book  (and she died too). Two more succumbed to damp off almost immediately and the last two are looking really puny and weak.

I almost began to think I'd done something wrong, although I followed the same tech I've been using for years. but then the 13 regular seeds that I'd received 4 days after the KF arrived (got them from OES and which all popped), are doing very well, well most of them, there are 2 that are kinda gnarly looking dwarfs, so they might be getting yanked if they don't improve.

I was pretty dissappointed to say the least as I was really looking forward to growing the KF, having heard so many good things about it. I thought about complaining to SHN, but felt that they had done their job and that the issue I had was with the breeder, Imperial Genetics.

THEN, low and behold, I received an email from SHN the next day asking about my experience, and when I explained, Dusty immediately offered to replace them at no cost, even offered to send me another strain. Now THAT is what I call INCREDIBLE customer service,

Dusty apologized and had my new seeds in the mail the next day, same strain cuz I really do want to raise this strain because it's got many characteristics I've been looking for, although only a finished grow will tell me for sure. Seeds arrived 3 days after his email and I've got them in the nursery waiting to be born, oh also, this set looked really nice, better size, no runts ;?D

Bottom line, I am VERY HAPPY AND IMPRESSED with SeedsHereNow.com, and I would recommend that others give these guy a try, I know they'll do you right if my experience is any example of how they want to treat their customers.:weed::clap:

Just an update about this strain and seeds from Seedherenow.com, which is the only place I think you can get these beans. Many people are reporting germination issues with these "old" seeds, with only about 1/2 of them sprouting. Seedsherenow will deny a problem of course, but they are giving away 6 seeds for the price of 5 now, but that still makes them very expensive. I started 24 seeds, and ended up with 11 plants. I can't comment yet on the smoke as I'm in my 6th week of flowering, but I'd reconsider other things instead of these to avoid problems....

Let's see......$65 for 6 seeds and 1/2 sprout so $20+ a seed, not a very good deal and some of the most expensive beans on the planet! Now if the smoke is incredible, that will all change but somehow I doubt it's better than my Kosher Kush or Sugar Punch!

So you know the smoke is great on the P.F.........seeds may not sprout but what does is worth a grow- especially now they strain is gone and the breeders appears to be out of business. I think, overall, it was the best of the 6 strains I grew out last time.
