well i dunno was just throwing it out there would like to get bigger light but budget is tight and im getting a grow tent soon to conceal my smelly girls ppl starting to notice the nice cotton candy with a hint of bud smell to it when they come over so need a tent and there like 200 plus a blower annd i need to buy a hood because i got a 400watt hps from my friend and it's like a parking lamp and i figure to heavy for a sun hut or whatever so need to buy new hood for the tent already looking at like 500-600 US so i dunno maybe get a bigger like next time but dunno how i'm going to keep temps down
Start with an inline fan, and a carbon filter. I got mine from HTG supply, a combo will cost around $200. The inline fan is 424 cfm.

Even if they are "almost" the right spectrum, those LED's appear to be "In-Line" - "One -behind-the-other" inside the tube. They are designed to "Light Up" the plastic tube, you can't "aim" them at your plant!

I am new to growing and thought i would build a light out of 100 watt cfl and 1 red 16 ft rope tight 1 blue rope light and 1 clear 16 ft rope light as well as 16 100 watt cfl lights. I found light sockets that you can plug into a wall or in my case a power strip those with a Y socket and 3 power bars as well as the rope lights have changed my plants in a big way over the 4 ft tubes i was using. I was just hoping the rope lights would give the cfl lights a bump .I cant say what if any help the ropes are doing but be for i added the cfl i powered up the board and the whole house was light up , i understand this is all about the lumes but i dont know how to check the output to say for sure what the output for the ropes are or the 16 cfl lights what i do know is be for i started with this light the plants were vary slow growing not getting the secondary leaves after the first set grows in and now after a couple weeks they have grown almost a foot and started to fill in. The things i liked the most with this set up is the amount of heat is much less that the other choices the power used is much less the replacment cost per bulb is around 2 bucks and i can add more or less bulbs as well as being able to add bigger bulbs and with the extra plug sockets on the 3,6 place power bars it has made it so i only have to plug in 1 plug to power the whole set upand get this i dont have to use a fan to help keep the temp in line and i am using my bedroom closet. I did need to build a carbon air cleaner that with a better fan pushing more air would help with the smell , sorry for going off topic a little just trying to let you know that i think if the rope lights are used with other lights you might see some better buds. i have a link showing what they are doing in Japan with LED grow lights, they say pink is the right light for growing.http://www.ledinside.com/news/2009/4/Plants_under_Pink_LED_Light_Grows_Better_Shows_an_Experiment_Exhibited_in_Tokyo_20090422

ok so i was thinking the other day about how people use led lights to grow with now. well you know those L.E.D rope lights that people use in movie theaters or as x-mas lights well what if during flowering if you used a red led rope light and wrap it in around the plant like a christmas tree would this help with inner bud growths here is a link http://www.amazon.com/Scarlet-Spacing-Christmas-Lighting-lighting/dp/B002NWO4RI/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=furniture&qid=1265823156&sr=1-5

they also have a blue rope light as well and could be used for veg http://www.amazon.com/Spacing-Christmas-Lighting-outdoor-lighting/dp/B001G7HS6U/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&s=furniture&qid=1265753652&sr=1-10

the wavelengths are almost that of the led grow lights so would this work for supplimental lighting for inner growth or would this be a waste of money??? any info anyone has would be greatly appreciated

Its a nice thought but its Not Really how it works..

The plant only uses certain wave lenghts of light.. Read up on PAR http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photosynthetically_active_radiation

Basically only if those lights are at the usable light waves will they do anything, Also U need to check into the wattage of those lights, Nearly all led company's start With 1w per bulb to 3w per bulb.

Your First Link, the red one outputs a total of 5.5w which is so low that i doubt that even if it was the right spectrum that it would do more then shine a nice color on your plant.

ps that light was rated in MCD which = 1/1000 candela. So U could just buy one 20w cfl and produce alot more light

Very correct, since LED's dont waste as much light as HIDs making them Very directional indeed.
