Landlord abuse of the system i need plan of action

I will but i want him to suffer as much as i had for 15 years of being a slumlord, thier mabe no physical injury but i can probsbly get him for emotion distress for the long remodeling. It is clear im moving out regardless but i want some justice when i do.

yeah sorry, Slumlords are all we have around here. Iv just had my fair share of horror stories with em. Nothing quite like the personal freedom of having your own place. Still working on some hostility issues also. certain things just break my branches, and renting is one of them.

Im sure there are decent landlords out there, I just havent had the honor of meeting one myself.

Maybe one day IT will be legal, and then everybody can get along. lol...

P.S. Never had an issue with one over smoke tho. wouldnt push it in some ones face or anything like that, thats just rude.

I'm in your court with the renting issue - I was forced to do that for many years (Active duty military).

A couple years ago an acquaintance came back from a 15 month deployment in the sandbox. His pay was all screwed up, he had no $$ or place to stay. He stayed in my unit for 4 years - the first 6 months for free as I have empathy for one in need, particularly one whom I consider a true hero.

This is my first rented house ever i only had one landord in my lifetime, before we lived with grandma. Hopefully this can be prevented unless he esculate it with fraudulent claims. Moving out is easy to say but what if u dont have 3000$ to pay the move in fee thats the challange we face afterwords. We might be homeless if thiers no compensation of moving out.

for ex. my landlord wouldn't fix the airconditioner for the longest time. i said i was breaking my lease b/c the apartment included working washer, dryer, dishwasher, stove, oven, microwave, fridge, and AC

do some reading. all lawyers will do is milk you out of your money.

Laws vary by state, but you are almost surely in the position of weakness. Who has more money... your landlord I'll bet and you can bet he will have an attorney. Proceeding to court without an attorney and knowing nothing about the law will leave you with squat, a red face and still having to find a new place to live. I don't doubt that the guy is being a dick, but you can be a very big dick in most places and get away with it. These type of situations are rarely decided in favor of the tenant and even if you win in court in the long run you will loose. I don't want to be mean, but have more than a little knowledge of law in my locale and this is just the reality I have seen.

He can have the best lawyer on earth i highly doubt he can win with malice and fraudulent representation. Exspecially when he loses due to concrete evidence of my bank statement. It will show he got the rent in full and will prove his malicious act in a fruad. Either way ima have to move so why not give him a taste of justice. Ill be sueing for abuse of the system in court nothing to do with the house on my case point. Thier is infact an injury econonically on my part becuase he is decieving gov. Housing trying to get them to cancel my benefits to live. Housing even told me he has a history of that even to his other tenants and i can get the inspector whom recently failed us due to his junk and almost unlivable conditions. We rely heavily on housing amd that lawsuit he is creating will cause us economic injury and emotional distress from fear of soon being homeless becuase of his fruadulent claims.

If you know so much about the law why are you asking questions, just to read your own posts? You talk about suing him, but that takes money brother, you will need an attorney and you will find none that will take your case on a contingency basis because attorneys don't take cases on contingency that won't make them money. You can file a suit at the courthouse for not much money, but beyond that things get expensive. Not knowing where you live (and I don't want to) makes anyone giving you more advice a crap shoot. Perhaps if you live in an exceptionally liberal state and community that has some sort of rent control you will have a case, but without an attorney you are going to piss on your foot. You can call me bullshit, but I see people who think they have the high ground get their asses kicked in court on a weekly basis.

I remember a few years back, my buddy had an issue with his landlord, he stopped paying rent, it was over something trivial like a dishwasher or something like that. in the end, the judge sided with the landlord.

Something about if you stop giving your rent to your landlord, you have to show you have the intent of paying. Like if you put the money in an escrow account, it shows your not being a dick, just want your shit fixed.

He would have to wait until you renew your lease, he cannot increase the rent until you sign a new contract!

Makes sense thats y hes not finishing remodeling till lease is over or untill he evicts us some how. I spoke to a lawyer larry H. Parker he told me i have a really good case if landlord proceeds with his act. However they dont specialize in this area so i would need to find a renters and landlord lawyer with that specialty.

your on the right track i guess. i would try and find a good lawyer, not a personal injury late night commercial chain lawyer. good lawyers dont advertise and they also dont come cheap, but since you are suing for damages you might be able to get a lawyer to take your case with no retainer.

Yea just a matter of if's, if he chills out and dont try to screw my livelyhood and wait till the lease is over than its cool but if hes in a hurry to evict us at all cost legally and illegally than he will be in a big surprised as i am 3 steps ahead of him and will be relentless in the quest to get even.
