Large pots dry at bottom slightly damp at top

Sorry yes another watering post I am growing in 4x4 tents 1000w bloom boss lights using root organics original soil in 7 gallon pots on risers inline 6 inch fans no carbon filter (no kids live in mass where legal so don't care about smell) nectar for the gods Greek regimen. I have many successful runs in this format my plants are usually root bound by the time I finish might move to 10 gallons so this makes this question a little more needed. My plants after 2 days the top is kinda moist not enough that dirt sticks to my finger when I check but at the holes in the bottom seems dry like even though it might seem moist at top it is dry at bottom. Am I under watering by going 3 days I do water till it drips out the bottom but 1 gallon only drips a little from every hole but still could I be using more.

Hi Bob,
I grow in coco so it's different...but I give my 3 gal plants a 1 gal feeding. I don't think you're wetting all the soil. Try 1 1/2 gal or even 2 gallons. Pots...even fabric ones will evaporate more off the top. So it's not the interval between watering...it's the volume.

remember the soil around the holes will dry quicker than the middle.

I think because I end up root bound by the time I am in flower that the roots are sucking it all up where there are not so many roots at the top.
Are you watering in stages? In soil especially depending on the kind of soil it’s best to water in stages To throughly saturate the soil. its Hard to gauge at first especially if you grow in a no till or super soil where you don’t want runoff.

Interesting I do think I could up the amount I only use a gallon in each 7 gallon pot can you define stages for me like wait 10 minutes or an hour or day.

Best to wait 30-1hr between. I do it in 2 cycles, sometimes 3 if the soil is beating the water off dry.

Once it’s soaked though keep it moist not soaking wet just moist and you’ll be good. What kind of soil are you using?
