Roots slow down major once the buds look to grow significantly, sure they don't completely come to a standstill.
Watering the outside perimeter only when shes filling into the pot, making the roots even more vigorous as they stretch for water, and within a few minutes you can see the water soaking up into the middle from the roots. The plant receives plenty of oxygen and you avoid root rot that can take days to remedy. My dry conditions super easy to fix, and its usually only the top inch that gets dry, the micro biome remains safe inside.
As for the numbers, watering 15-20% water ratio to soil is easy enough, without complicating it too much as i change pot sizes all the time.
