Hello everyone, so I've got multiple questions I could really use some answers/opinions to, I'd really appreciate it. (Not sure if this is the right sub-forum, but anywho)
Setup specifications:
Space: 5x5 Gorilla grow tent. (Buying GGT CFM Kit too to combat negative pressure bulges, maybe 2)
Lighting: 5x5 Samsung F series strips fixture from Omega light.
Medium: Soil by Kindsoil, read great reviews and journals, some bad, but the bad ones stick out like a sore thumb, so decided to test it out myself. And Roots organic or Fox Farm Coco Loco for top layer.
Pots: Root Trapper II.
Exhaust fan: Undecided
Intake fan: Undecided
Carbon filter: Undecided
Oscillating fans: Undecided
Gear/accessories/tools:
Pruning scissors: Fiskars Non-stick Softgrip Micro-Tip Pruning Snip
Shears/scissors for stems: Fiskars P68 Smart Fit Bypass Pruner
Jars: 1 liter Korken
Magnification tool: Undecided
5x5 scrog: Undecided
Temperature/RH meter: Undecided
Everything hasn't been bought yet but this will be the intended setup.
First off, shout out to @nfhiggs for saving me a good amount of money on my fixture and other fees like custom fees. (roughly 430$). Was gonna go with a cob DIY kit originally from RapidLED, nice fixtures too.
Nfhiggs was very patient, helpful and consistent, hurled questions after questions at him about lights and other things Cannabis cultivating related. Probably got a bit tired of me in the end, understandably so.
Questions: (No specific order)
1. If you look up 1 liter Korken jar, how much dried bud do you think it could store? Whether they were long and thin or short and dense? Any rough gestimate? (Guess and estimate)
2. Can I fill a 5x5 scrog with 4 plants in a month from seed, or maybe 5 weeks and then 2 month flower? Or maybe I can do it in a month with 9 plants from seed? Really wanting a month veg and 2 month flower, give or take. What pot size if going with 4 plants or 9?
3. Is tent airflow and efficiency better if the intake and exhaust fans are in opposite locations? diagonal. Or would it be the same if the exhaust fan came out of the roof of the tent and not from the side?
4. What materials should I use for a scrog frame? Any materials you should really avoid? What size of the individual square size should I go for? What size holes do you have?
5. Is this Loupe good enough? Like the quality of it, is 30x-60x magnification enough to see the Trichomes clearly? Beemoon loupe <--- (Link)
6. Any gear/accessories/tools you think I'm missing for a full cycle grow? Trimming? curing? Long term storage?
7. My tent is 7', but it comes with a 1' free extension kit, if majority of my grows will be scrogs, should I just forget about the extension kit or is it still beneficial to to use for like more space for heat to rise?
8. What size " carbon filter should I get for my tent size? As I intend to completely fill the scrog. And what company brand is the best? Read fair bit and many members here recommend Phresh, should I just go with them?
9. What brand is the best, silent, durable for exhaust and intake fans? What do you use?
10. Root Trapper II pots come in "squat" which are more wide and "regular?" tall ones, besides the different dimensions, does this actually effect the plant growth in any way? Like will squat pot make the plant grow somehow more horizontal bushy or is it just about roots growing more wide than tall?
11. What's the best, most used, accurate temperature/RH meter in one? What do you use?
12. What brand of fans should I use for oscillation? How much power should they be below canopy when in veg for just bit of air move to harden and stiffen them up, what about when in flower how much power should they be at below canopy? What about fans above canopy in veg and flower, what power to prevent PM to form?
13. Would GGT trellis be good enough to use for the scrog frame net? Or should I find something that's white so light bounces off instead?
14. Would it be wise to make the scrog frame attach to the tent corner poles? So the scrog won't need any legs. Or at full flower will the plants have enough force to push it up? Also reason for this so I can height adjust it myself, instead of having limited height due to legs.
15. Should I look into having like a RH probe, controller attached to a dehumidifier/humidifier Is that like a thing? Same question, but just temperature this time. Or is that excessive?
16. Is it hard to maintain a specific RH or heat mark?
17. What is the best brand for a humidifier, dehumidifier, heater or deheater if I need any of them? What do you guys use?
18. How many lumens from high efficiency LED lights per square foot, if I were to look into CO2 enrichment? I know I'll be using a tent but I think I can make it work, I read somewhere it should be 7500-10.000. But then on high times I read it was 3000 per square foot for 1500 PPM, 5000 lumens for 2000 PPM.
19. Same as question 11 but to put into jars.
Currently can't think of more questions, these are really that are left before I buy the rest of the stuff I need to start my grow. Also might make a journal using Kindsoil, would be nice having more journals around.
