LBH's SCrog Tutorial

Ill be following and LBH I also want to do a stadium grow for my next one... Even though I am only on my first scrog the stadium idea is genius and would love to give it a shot..

Makes since bro yeah I would be trying to get me a bud in every hole I am pulling out my last 4 plants from my current grow on wednesday should have everything all ready by next weekend been low on money unfortunately I still need to grab another peice of lumber from Home Depot to build my legs and mount my screen im excited though cant wait to give my first go at this.

You are using CFL's on those ladies using the 23's I am guessing do you think those will produce some decent buds with the scrog method? I was thinking anything achieved would be good profit seeing that the wattage used is nothing at all to the electricity bill.

Hey BB I don't think there are any vet scroger's, its just you me & dapio, and we're all on our 1st scrog. If you've grown this style in the world of 0 veg then you should have a good idea of when the stretch ends, this is the point from what I understand that you can let them go, but I've read things where growers have pulled down big stretchers late in flower to keep the canopy even.

The concern I have on my grow was the trimming, I got down rite Freddy Kruger on my girls, and it seems to have stunted their growth. Here's some before and after photos. I'd trimmed lightly a couple of times for the before photos, then I went after them

I'll keep ya posted to let you know if super pruning is a good idea or not, I'm a little concerned now.

Hi Lbh, I want Scrog yousing you tutorial here. I will use your 4 way Lst first as you suggest. My question is ( this is my first grow) when do i take the U-pins off of the plants from the lst'ing to let the grow upwards into the mesh for the scrog??

haha you sound almost a little more excited then me for this one bigbud!! I got ahold of some cash im about to put some legs on that screen in a couple days. I was actually thinking about that before I went to sleep which is when I usually run through all my thoughts and figured another disadvantage to growing plants so tall and thick before hitting the screen is the strength of the stem I plan on putting 15" legs on my screen which would give the plants about 4.5 inches of growth before it hits the screen and I figure it cant possibly get to strong before it gets to it and should easily bend whatever way I need them to.

I am pulling out my last 4 plants on thursday some stupid white pistils popped up out of no where so I gave them a few days longer but have no fear! by this weekend I will bleach my closet vacuum and get back to veg mode.

I just made some potent butter my house is stinking!! put about a ounce of trim and two ounces of bud in the crock pot I think these will be the best cookies yet.

1. Your pot was way too small. This method of encircling the pot with the plant (Spiral lst) came about in a thread years ago by a guy named Dierwolf. The method does not work. The growth is far too tightly packed. Great in theory, but not in actual application. The thread is found as a sticky on a few different boards out of respect to Dier for those threads were some of the first ones in forums to really, really get into "LST" . Some great discussion came about in some of them. Dierwolf has since passed on and the boards leave his thread up for the above said reasons. Respect and content. So don't get stuck on that method for scrogging. The are are far more productive ones out there like this one and woodmans sticky one.

If you're in soil, don't worry about hydropnic drip systems,....it's hydroponics (wink,lol) In soil, you want to let the medium get COMPLETELY dry before rewatering. A handy tip for this is to lift the pot before and after each weatering. Eventually, you'll know her weight and will be able to tell if they are thirsty just by lifting. Another is to stick your finger in 1/2 way, if you feel any moistness at all, hold off. I liked to let them go dry till they just began to develop a slight droop and than WHAM, hit em with a good drenching. This encourages "search" roots to develop during the dry time and is a sure way to avoid root rot.

And bigbud I will not be using shower rods instead I am planning on just nailing in some legs that will bring the screen roughly 15-16" off the ground my smart pots are about 10 1/2" inches tall so I will be right around my target height, I would have used the shower rods but my landlord is apparently a cheap idiot and my closet was built 74" in length and I saw that shower rods were standardized to 72" at home depot this would mean that I am 2" off and they would most likely just be a waste of time in my circumstance :/. Remember, experiment, get creative. Another way is to make a peg system so you can raise it and lower it as needed. Like the shelves in your kitchen cabinets

Yes, you just want to anchor it but not restrict it's growth in any way

1. trigger flowering immediately. A big point to remember and a key to becoming a better and better scrogger is how you address the stretch. Remember that plants double to triple in size when you trigger flowering so that means you want to have a screen that is appx 1/3-1/2 full by the END OF VEG.

If you fill the screen in veg, you really dont get to use the screen and it just becomes a standard grow with extra support down near the bases of the branches. Followin me?

2. Avoid chicken wire, its the absolute worst material to use to build a screen. Read back in the original post for other suggestions.

3. LOVE the pink string,lol. I always use different colored lines for photo reasons. Next time you see a colored screen in High Times pix of the crop,....thats usually me

It's absolutely possible. For you specific application and the limited area, I would suggest raising the screen a bit and flowering a hair sooner.

Yes, they look good, my point is that they should still be growing horizontally still but you ran out of screen. Now they have no choice but to grow upwards. It's ok, trial and error is the only way to ever get decent at screen growing IMO. It's a timing thing. Each run you learn more and more, find new tricks, etc, it never stops. Key thing here is the plants are healthy and well on their way to delivering you some rewards.

You could use an electric pump and a length of hose to water also.

I followed this same tutorial on another board a few years ago and have been doing it this way ever since.

You'll find that you'll need to run them wherever they need to be. You will have dense areas naturally and lighter areas that need filling in so you use those rogue arms to fill holes. The idea is not only to fill the screen but to get all your bud as roughly the same height. See your tallest main and then the hole dead center front? That one could have gone for 1 more tuck and it would have leveled the tops and filled the hole. Following? Congrats on ur pistils!!

My screen is 3.5 x 3.5 I'm using a different closet than the one I was using before so this screen is a little bigger. I can fit 4 plants in this closet but havent because I feel the screen will be too full. should I?
