leaf edge curle.

Hey folks...I'm new to the hobby and have been doing tons of research but I haven't found a definitive answer to my question. I have 12 trees that are 4 weeks old and looking very healthy except the edge of the leaves have a elongated curl :-| Not all the leaves are doing it, just a few per plant. I have a 600w hps. My soil temp is at 70 and room temp is 73. I have the light about two feet from the top of the pots. Is this to close? Any insight would be much appreciated . Oh ya. My plants have fat leaves with a few sets of nodes but are about 4 inches tall. Very squatty .Thanx

Could be heat stress, it depends on how drastic the curl is, because it could also be a deficiency. Hard to tell without pics, why don't you post some?

light is 2 feet from pot or from top of plants...... i think 18 = 24 inches from top of plant is recommended height for HPS...... but it could also be nute burn have you been giving it nutes? how much and how often?

No nutes yet. I had the light two feet from the top of the plants. I raised it up to see if it makes any difference. I'll try to get some pics up. Thanx

Pictures would help :)

What did you use for soil? What is the ph of your water?

IMHO, if your water ph is approx. 6.5 and you used a good soil_I like fox farm ocean forrest_all you really need to do is just add water, when required. Don't add any nutes until later. I add a bit of mycorrhizae to my soil when making the mix.

Got a moisture and ph meter?

Leaves are pointed up. I used root organics soil. Have not checked ph. Figured new soil so I wouldn't have a problem. I'll get a kit tomorrow and will also get some pics up. thanx

Why does new soil have anything to do with your PH? How do you know the soil was intended for cannabis growing? Different plants like different ranges of PH. Just something to think about.

I would deffently get a ph kit, more then likely your problem.

Goodluck to ya mate <3

You can get a nice digital, Waterproof, ph meter for around $30 bucks. Aquarium stores.

When you get the meter and have ph'd your water. Flush the plants, with the ph adjusted water and then let them dry out to about 3~4_hopefully you will get a moisture meter ($8.00) also_before you give them more water.

Let us know how it goes.

Well I checked my ph and it was good. Moister was right on. I moved my light up too about 3 ft above the tops a couple of days ago and now they are very happy. No curl on the leaves:mrgreen:. Must have been giving them a sunburn! Thanks for the advice folks.............
