I really see that kind of thing associated with the pH..I mean you can google...plants with low pH in images, or pH too low/high pics? anything like that and you will see that same thing...so it is not the soil that is wrong...it is the pH of your water you are watering with...you have to add some lime in the beginning and let it sit in there for a little bit if you have really acidic water, and it sounds like you do... but since the lime hasn't had long enough to get in there yet you just have to wait...perhaps water with lime one more time and then just carry on as normal...it will work or not...and now you know for the nest time that you need to add lime to the soil at least a month in advance...it you are able to add some lime and then mix the soil and then wet it and allow it to sit, until you are ready to use it that would be ideal, but you if you only do one plant it might have to sit awhile, and you don't really want it to dry completely out, but it will take a long time to dry with no plant in it..anyway add lime and then let it breakdown a little bit...

No man it was because some other guy just asked a random question (xxganjabus??) without pics. I was just high i guess and answered it! I even quoted him. Kinda funny actually, it was like a thread within a thread. Sorry man for any derailment.
ah that makes sense, i think we're all high:bigjoint:
that was a nice attempt at a thread-jacking ganja bus.

I do ph my water to 6.0 so I think its the soil thats wrong here.
Won't there be soil mold issues if i water a pot without a plant in it?

I am familiar with the effects ph has on nutrient uptake, but my problem is the dolomite lime isn't significantly alkalizing the soil ph.
For a quicker delivery I dissolved the lime in water, then watered. I don't want to get too crazy with adding even more lime for fear of ruining this plant even more.

Can anyone share any experience with adding large amounts of lime?
Can you overdo it?
Whats the next step if a handful of lime per gallon doesn't raise it sufficiently?
Dolomite lime/lime is not water soluble so mixing it with water will not speed its reaction times any. It takes 2-3 weeks after application to start seeing results. Plus runoff pH is not an indicator of a mediums pH and will only have you chasing your tail. The only way to accurately know your mediums pH is by testing the medium itself. The rapid way to raise a mediums pH is by adding wood ashes, a little goes a long ways......

Man are you letting your water sit un lid for 24-48Hrs? What's your base ppm measurement? Are you finding yourself to use a lot of PH UP? I'm having a similar problem with all my hydro plants and my approach is chlorine!! Btw PH your water at 6.5-6.8 each time or It'll lead to salts build ups

I have a ro system that removes chloramines. Base ppm is 20 before adding anything, and yes I use ph up, more specifically DynaGrow Pro-Tekt, about 3-5 ml/gal to get it to 6.0-6.2.

About your Cl issue...I have actually added bleach (1 drop per gal) in a past ebb/flow system I had going to combat algae and it seem like the roots actually liked it, they stayed very white and healthy until harvest with no adverse effects on the plants.

If you are using ProTek as a pH up and adding after adding other nutes there could be some precipitation going on in your nutrient solutions locking certain elements up.

I know that if you add your phosphates last that could be a problem......Care to elaborate? I have noticed when I drop the Pro-Tekt in my solution it is cloudy at first but then dissipates. Maybe this is what you are talking about
Adding ph-up first would be tricky as I would have to just estimate the amount I will eventually need....

looks similar to mine, ive tried everything i can think of.. gave more nutes, less nutes, higher and lower humidity, lower and raised lights. have talked to other people with the problem that has yet to fix it either..

I grow in soil, Fox Farm Happy Frog & im using Mother Earth Super Tea mixed with Iguana Juice, started noticing Mag deficiencies at week 6 from seed. I first did A foliage spray at 1tsp per gal of General Organics CalMag & continued that dose for 4 days, Also I gave (and continue to give) 1/2 tsp per gal every feeding & ever since, plants have been perfect.
