Leaky EZ Clone 30, is this normal?

I recently aquired a new EZ Clone 30, and I assembled it according to the instructions.

The unit I have has a second channel opening for a heater, but does not have a heater (I don't want a heater anyway).

When I turned the unit on, all seemed to go well, and I left it for a bit.

Then when I returned, water was spraying through this second hole. It might have been there before, and I just missed it until it made a mess. I m not 100% on that.

I checked through the box etc. and there is no plug to fill this hole. I grabbed some of the neoprene leftovers, and used a chunk to block the hole. Worked great, no further problems so far, everything seems to be working fine.

Okay (and thanks for sticking with this), my question is, is this normal or a freak misalignment of a sprayer? Is it my bad luck, or a design issue? Can anyone with an EZ Clone let me know your take on it?

Update: by directing the sprayers away from the hole, the leak diminishes, is this how it is supposed to work? If it is, I'll stick with the DIY plug.

Where does yours leak from? Plugging up the hole seems to better for me. How old is your model?

i just got it with in the year, it a 60 site, it leaks around the top were it "sits" down in the rez.. i think the sprayers are faceing out..it makes puddles around the eged, i just dont want bugs to start hanging out there..

I hate to state the obvious, but have you tried turning the sprayers so they don't face out? (Just a thought). How bad does it puddle?
