Leaves droop and get brown/yellow spots?

i was thinking this was a ph problem or not enough water at first, but i dont have a ph meter yet, so i was curious if someone on here could help diagnose the problem


What STRAIN are you growing? bagseed, indica dominant

What was the establishing technique? (Were the seed or clone?) seed

What is the age of your plants? 4-5 weeks from germination

What PHASE are the plants in? (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in? vegetative

What substrate/medium are you using?(Hydroton, RockWool etc.) Miracle grow potting mix, extended release nutes

What Nutrient's are you using? How much of each if using multiple? whats in the soil

What is the pH of the "Tank"? dont know, probably a little acidic because of miracle grow

When was your last watering? yesterday


What size bulb are you using? 1 400 watt HPS

What is the distance to the canopy? 3 feet or so from the plants

What is the canopy temperature? 70s


What is the current Air Flow? box fan blowing over light

Is the fan blowing directly at plants? above the plants, but they are getting air that reflects off the walls

Is your water HARD or SOFT? soft, run through brita filter and let sit for awhile to make it room temp after out of the tap

Has plant been recently pruned, cloned off of or pinched? no

Have any pest chemicals been used? If so, What and When? no

Are plant's infected with pest's? no

you should put the light closer to the canopy my friend, and tease it with water until it perks up and then do normal watering every 2-3 days

The problem has continued up the plant, and is attacking the tips of some of my larger leaves; kinda worried

can anyone help? ive begun trimming off parts of the dead leaves but im still panicking

i think that the problem might be heat; i just bought a crappy disc thermometer from the drugstore because i dont have much other ability, and it reads at above 90;

im sure that some outdoor grows deal with 100+ degrees often, and the plant is from south asia, but what effect does high temp have on the plants?

what are good ways to lower temp? im doing a real stealth sensitive grow, so it cant be obvious...

woah woah woah! 90 is way to hot!!! 75f is optimum, solve it and u will be able to retrieve it!

well i'm hoping that my crappy thermometer is wrong; i'm trying to lower the temp, was thinking of putting a bucket of ice water in there and have it evaporate, or a hanging wet towel in the interim

how would i dispose of heat from my light in a small space other than using an expensive inline fan?

if necessary, i was thinking of buying one of the cooltube reflectors or one of the ones i can put a pane of glass/flexible hosing in, and suck out the heat.
