My vegging white fires are starting to get much lighter color new growth, an there tips are starting to burn. These seem like pretty conflicting problem, and i just wanted someone opinion before i go and try to fix it.
for sure looks like a lack of mag, also in the fourth picture is that leaf at the bottom twisted sideways? i would check ph before you add anything else if you ever run into a problem you should stop your feed and check other things before you just add more. and just because i said its a lack of mag does not mean add more because it very well could be there but the plant cannot use it cause of salt build up and or a ph issue either to high to low or fluctuating to much, whats your ph of the water you give it and whats the run off they should be pretty close to each other within reason. i hope this help you out.
Water PH is 6.5 I'm gonna go get a soil meter today and check that and unfortunately I haven't been checking the PH of the runoff but I will start. Thanks for the advice and help everyone.
pH soil meters are VERY un-reliable, at best... Your best bet is to pH the solution before applying, then pH the run-off. With some math you can get a pretty close idea to where your soil's pH is at. I'd start with that, hope that helps.
ya the soil meter i got just reads everything at 8 or so it seems, im just gonna test the runoff next time i water. too bad i wont know what i need to water with until after i water haha.
Hi, I have a probe style soil meter as well. This is what I do. I clean the end with a dry cloth first. I've even lightly used a very fine sand paper to rough the probe up. Wiping it with the cloth afterwards.Your soil has to be moist. Then insert the probe into the soil & turn it back & forth (clockwise & counter-clockwise ) rapidly. My probe always says 7 at this point & then I wait just a short while. The numbers start changing & usually it matches the ph of the water I am putting in. I use G/O Go box & it says no need to check the water as well. As I added each product to my RO water I checked the PH each time. Sometimes it dipped way low but the next addition would bring it back up. In the end it always settles at 6.4-6.5. I still check the PH every time after all of the additives have been mixed together. I have checked the runoff as well & so far everything matches. Good luck. Hope this helps.
