Leaves Pointing Up

Hey everyone! I am working on my first grow currently and I have a few questions about my plants. I generally water them every other day or when they start to wilt. I am using a CFL setup.

Lately one of my plant's leaves have been pointing upwards pretty dramatically. Besides that the plant looks fine, but I was wondering if it was anything to worry about.

In addition, another one of my plants doesn't look so good. I checked and watered it in the morning (and it appeared completely healthy) and when I checked it again a few hours later it was shriveled and dying. I expect to lose this plant, but I was just wondering what went wrong so I can avoid it in the future.

Any help here would be appreciated, thanks!

transplant them. in that third pic i doubt theres enough soil in it. your cfls should be about 3 inches from the plant and could explain why the other plant is "reaching" for the light cuz it might be a lil far away. also put a fan blowing on them gently it will help strengthen them up

Thanks for the quick reply!

1) Those are just starter cups. Once they grow up a bit I'm going to transplant them into bigger pots.
2) They are about 1.5-2 inches from the CFL's right now.
3) I have a little case fan in the grow cabinet for this.

Leaves pointing up are good....last, shriveled pic is bad. I agree with heatha....why is there so little soil? Fill that cup up to the first leaves. Your plant probably dried out because there's so little soil in there.

Good luck

That picture just makes it look like there isn't much soil, it's really about 4-5 inches deep. I do plan on transplanting them to a bigger pot once they enter veg.
