Leavings curling at the top, fine going don the plant? Whats wrong??

Hi, I'm a newb on a first time grow and looking for a little insight. I'll describe it to you because I'm not in a 420 friendly location and I was warned against continuing to take and post pics. I have 3 plants all flowering, the oldest has been for a little over 2 months. Its been slow I'm told because theres not enough light (forced to use CFLs and grow right in a closet due to budget constraints) but its budding ok under the circumstances.

Problem is, at the top of all three plants the leaves are looking almost dead, very dry, thin and curled under, even the buds look like theyre affected, very sparse. I've always been under the impression the top cola is where the biggest, densest buds should be on the plant but I have fuller, definitely healthier looking buds going down the plants and the leaves start looking healthy again maybe 1 quarter of the way down each plant. Whats wrong??

Common sense says the light and heat is damaging the top of the plant but I've been told over and over CFLs must be kept close & dont generate a lot of heat, and I've already seen what happens when i kept the lights too far away. Help if you can, thanks in advance.

I have 2x 125W CFLs and they get hot! so dont let your tops get to close (a good rule is if its to hot for your hand when u put it there, its to hot for your plants). Move up your lights a bit or tie your girls down with some string and see if that will helps. Do you use any nutes? Leaf curling is common when over feeding too.

Hmmm I guess maybe the lights are pretty hot then I'm using 300w cfls. I'll try your tips -maybe the nutrient thing is a problem too unfortunately I keep runnin into all sorts of conflicting info as fas as what to feed them and how often. Thanks for your help I truly appreciate it

The cfl is causing this bro , causing the plant to underdevelop and look sick in flowering. Its floppy and spindly and weak due to not enough light int.

Also what are the temps, have u got a thermometer, hygrometer in there? prob running too hot which will contribute to the spindly look , also thc starts breaking down above 83 deg.

Wow, thanks for your insight. Is there a solution to this? More CFLs and if so how much light do I need i have 4 300W CFL lamps in the closet now all 2700K? Or do I basically have to scratch growing until I can get HID lighting? Lastly, can the plants be salvaged, only the tops seem to be affected? Thanks

That's a load of bull. I had 3 healthy plants under 1 200w cfl. The smallest one pulled just over .5oz of some kgb, should yield close to 2.5oz total. Sounds more like over nute and/or heat/moisture stress. I get temps in upper 80s when its warm outside. Make sure you not only have airflow but some direct air on the plants to build strength. When applying nutes start 1/4 to 1/3 str and build up to full. If soil usually a feed/water/water schedule will help prevent over nuting and if you notice anything like burnt tips etc back off on nutes a little bit for the plant to build up a tolerance
