i bought boulder lamp co 315 lec w/ horizontal fixtures... if i was to go back id have bought the cyclops fixtures designed for 4ftx4ft coverage w/ verticle bulb.. however i think the 315's do cover a 4x4 pretty well at 3ft above canopy,, but a 3.5x3.5 is ideal so ive added a couple 100 watt citizen cobs on the right n left of the 315's...my outside rows are getting nice large buds, same as the middle now..

Some of my biggest colas came from the edges.

My hydro guy is an honest person. Great independent local store with a good reputation. He's an experienced grower and just raved about the results he and others are getting. That sold me and now it looks like he was correct. :-)
Sounds like my guy In Taylor. Though COBs get much better results.

Wonder why all the store reviews and so called experts say these are great for supplemental lighting with hps but lack the power alone for big buds? Seems to me ya dont even need hps in the grow room.
That hasn't been my experience. It will put frosty weight on.

Very good reports on the 315 cmh. So many good results now documented all over the forums. I run COBs and LEDs but respect this light having used the original Philips Retrofit.
I am really liking my new sun system/ galaxy/ Phillips 3100k set up.

It is bringing out colors and terpenes more than the Hortilux 600HPS I have been using.

And I am pretty sure even the limited uv is making a potency and psychoactivity improvement even used as a finishing lamp for the last 2 weeks or so.

I have been posting results and personal experience info in the club 315 thread lately if anyone's interested.

I love hearing this. I read to often negitive abought hydro store owners and managers. Gives us a bad name!

My main gripe about 630W units is that they give up a good spread between two 315W sources, making it less effective.

COB LED has converted me into a 'spread it around' approach kind of guy!
I think two vertical 315s would give a better spread working together?

Ive always gotten slightly better yields using a bunch of 600's compared to a few 1000's in equivalent wattage. Way back in the before time when sixers werent even on the market...the lowly 400 watter was your only other "big" HID and many a grower used a shitload of them spread all out as compared to a few thouies. And got excellent production. It was about sea of green back then. Flowering out whole beds of rooted cuts with just a week or 2 of veg.
