LED and Calmag issues.

how about running some of your nute mixes thru a nute calculator por favor? i'd love to see what ppms you are talking about when you say low K or low Ca. how that correlates to a ppm value.

then i can put my maxibloom and cal/mg into a calculator and see what i'm running.

So you want the ppm?

I use composted amendments and tea, so I can check the ppm, but I don't know if that'll help.

I can check the Calmag if you want.
 
Ya, gypsum is insoluable. If you use phosphoric for your pH down, you could add CaCO3 and the acid would neutralize the carbonate and you'd be left with calcium phosphate. If you use H2S04 you'd get a gypsum precipitate.

You can use calcium gluconate as well. Which is I think the most soluble of all 3 types.
 
Cal mag as I've been using barebones without issue is 118ppm with a 26ppm base in one gallon of water.

The higher dosage that I was using with issue came out to 233ppm, same base water.

would there be another source of Ca in your tea or compost do you think?
 
i use well water which has a decent amount of carbonates. i could look at my last well report to see the actual numbers.
that's why this grow was weird to have Ca issues. never had them before with well.
Ya, I use tap too, MB as well. I really think its too much Ca, but only one way to find out. Excess Ca blocks almost everything. I could very well be wrong though.

The GH CalMg is not just calcium nitrate and Epsom, its only required to have the amount of Ca-Mg in the bottle that they advertise as. If you look at the color ect, its not just 2 salts in RO water. I think it's a way they shield from "reverse engineering." Anyways I guess my point is, that when ppl are adding Ca-Mg they may be feeding the plant something they're unaware of and blaming/praising Ca or Mg.

How much calcium is in bananas? I don't know how to measure that.

I use a rotting banana compost, strictly banana slurry mixed with coco, to make the tea. Figured that out after a finicky blueberry strain that was a K whore. Gets filtered once before it goes in to reduce the amount of particles.

In my regular compost, I have eggshells.

What I gathered from that, would be more Ca would better, right? Sorry, not hip a scientific language. Think I grasped it, though the chemical compositions of the Ca could effect it, right?

Also, didn't see a mention of LED. They grow just fine under HPS and T5s.

Ya I didn't see LED mentioned either. Seems like the extra Ca makes the plants taller and develop more cellulose, more fiber, stronger stalks, firmer fruit, but said that it diminished yield as well.

Yea, that's what I gathered as well.

Basically, my running theory is that LEDs increase the potency or uptake of K in the plant, reducing overall Ca values taken in.

I don't have the room to set up a proper testing ground at the moment, but I would like to evaluate this further.
