Thanks for the reply. I am pretty handy with an iron so im not to worried and i also did read up on the thermal paste before i purchased the light but thanks for the heads up. Honestly im not to worried i have a 150 watt ufo just incase a problem does arrive. Your 100% percent correct on the ir spectrum and it only producing more heat and not really any usable light thats also why i decided not to get uv diodes ( to far from the canopy to do any good and just a waste of precious panel space.yo dude, you got the newer version of the Apollo aswell, the old module had 15 leds per cluster (lense), this one has 12. They also put on redesigned optical lenses on it so no light leaks from the sides of the LED's under the faceplate, unlike the older version.
Plus if ya handy with a soldering iron, they are really easy to repair man if a LED does go pop, get a 5v DC Adapter, strip the wires, touch the + side of the LED with the + wire of the adapter and the same with the - ones, and bingo, the LED will light up, if its the blown one, then it wont. Pop out with Soldering iron and replace.
So you wont have to wait so long for replacements, as for the power drivers, I have owned my Apollo LED for over 3 years now, yeah ive popped a few LED's (my fault for Fooking about putting in higer voltage ones lol) but I have never popped a Driver., as for the Fire Hazard, Quite simply.....bollox.
They use MeanWell drivers & they are used everywhere across the world in all sorts of electronical applications,, anyway, even if one did overheat, it would just blow its internal fuse & the red light on the front will go out.
If its a LED problem, it should blink.
I can tell you the main reason that they do fail aswell, its the heatsink thermal paste they use, its ok bit not brilliant, change it all for Artic Silver and your laughing, in fact many re-suppliers of these light have already upgraded the thermal paste and tape as china cant. cos its too expensive for them ffs. lol.
Plus they sometimes don't clamp the LED board down hard enough, check all the screws on the LED cluster plates. (allen key ones aswell, nightmare)
They should not be loose nor overtightened. Its like clamping a head gasket down, you gotta make sure the LED Circuit board is tightened evenly onto the thermal bars.
Ive seen a few come from china with loose screws aswell. Plus people like putting IR in them, that pops them aswell, cant handle the heat generated
Oh I could go on and on about the design faults, pros and cons, etc.. but I wont, its a simple LED to do a simple job. Growing.

Hey now no reason to get unhinged. 1000s of lights sold definetly gonna have some failures but in all fairness i understood that before the purchase. The way i see it i can replace with better parts as i go and still come out on top.
Yeah , 1000s of lights sold ,but 50%-80% = 500- 800 lights failed .A lot of failures .
Yea all that matters is im super pumped and yes ive see many great grows with versions of this light. I also seen many great grows with other lights. what do you mean that sealed set ups are better??? it kinda sucks in a way sealed save you from using ozone witch is hella unhealthy been at the doctors office and they found 2 spots one in my lung another next to the pitituary gland when you feel that weird ass feeling in your throat that shit is ozone third molicule tearing your shit up.. i get better yeilds with a negitive room.. also my oxygen intake is so much better better for the roots.. got be monitering the oxygen levels also stail air man sucks but its worth the smell not getting out you gota invest in a hepa intake and ezost out im not the best speller but i get down... and well advertising is a mother fucker when it comes to your heath so ya in that fact sealed is better but still keep in mind fresh air.. also my next purchase is LED i want to find a low heat and well made brand doesnt mater if it came from china their are quality connections in china you just gota find them.. ANY HUMAN CAN ACHEIVE GREAT QUALITY no mater were your from on earth!!! you just gota want it build it right!!! and find the right people... so hear are my cradentials what do you recomend??? if i buy it though ill hold a grudge if it sucks and i will bash the product.. real talk!!!ok so i almost have my temps where i feel good about running . Been having a lot of fun with this little box but i forget how much of a pita passive setups are, sealed setups are so much easier. Also my seeds arrived!!!

Yea I see where you're coming from. All I meant by that was its easier to maintain the environment in sealed setups not having to worry about ambient temps. Also i would never recommend something unless its tried and true with lots of concrete evidence.
