LED & CFL / Ozone Grow

Hey everyone. My journal will focus mainly on Led grow accompanied by CFL bulbs. My LED light decided to crap on me, bottom two rows does not work. I made a post about it here with no answers. So I decided to add CFL's into the mix to make up for those two rows. This is how I started my grow.

I planted 1 plant and only 1 plant... It is for my own personal use. I do have limited room and I have to be stealthy. I am thinking about adding a 200 to 600 mg/h ozone generator later on. Yes I did read about it. I decided I can make it work. I have a very small room where my plant resides inside a cabinet. Carbon filters require me to cut bits from the cabinet (wooden dress cabinet) which I am not in the liberty to do. Also the fan will create a noise issue for me. I can barely get away with my LED's fan noise.

Anyway, I planted Durban Poison as my strain of choice. I read that it was around 55 days flowering, hence one of the reasons I decided to go with it. Also, I read that it can help me with my major depression and anxiety that I am trying to get rid off for the last 2 years.

- Dutch Passion - Feminized Durban Poison
- Cidly Phantom 150w
- 3x150 watt 6400k and 1x 100w 2700k (only 1x150w 6400k in use right now with the LED)
- 4 liter Air Pot ( I do have 8 liter aswell)
( I have limited space, I will not grow it so much)
-Plagron batmix for soil

* Have not bought fertilizers yet, I do have a month for that as the soil is "allmix" + bat...*

* Have not bought the Ozone device right now, no smell for now... have to use the money wisely. I will order as soon as I see sex *

Seed sprout date: 3rd of March. It has been pretty slow so far, I think that it is building its root system. I directly planted into the 4 liter final pot, so I guess it is expected...

I do have other seeds for future grows. Different feminized seeds.

It was a problematic sprout. The shell was stuck on its head. Had to take it off myself, even then the "white outer wall" was stuck on it.

This is from today. It is a little longer now with a bit bigger inner growth.

I started with 16/8 but I switched to doing 6/2 till 15 days and then switch to flower either 12/12 or 8/12... again, I have a limited room. My goal is not 100's of grams. I am more than happy with 10+ grams. 50 would have been nice.

(I know auto strains would be a better fit, but I dont fancy them that much.)

Update: Figured might as well plant one more since Ozone will be enough for 1 to 3 plants max. That kind of light coverage is a bit wasteful for one plant. So I will go ahead and plant Dinafem - Blue Cheese also. It will grow into a straight flower regiment. I will update with pictures after it sprouts and I will update on Durban too.

A little update... Blue Cheese was slacking on germination (by my standards), I generally get a germination within 24 hours. Anyway, I filed down the seed a little to make the process a bit faster. I hope it works. I really suck at waiting. At least after a sprout, you see the plant growing. I am fine with waiting for that. XD. Ohh well, try and learn I guess.

Here is Durban...

Alright, so after scarification the seeds popped really fast within 1 hour. BUT!!! There is a biiiiiig issue. You see, when you file down from the back, which is the softest part of the seed, I think what came out first was the cotyledon embryo.

If you can see from the picture, that does not seem like a root. Roots are generally pointy at the end and not fat/bent like this. So I picked out the other side to see and voilà, There it was, the root. It was thin and pointy. So, I grabbed it, praying that I could save it and planted the pointy end into the soil and left the embryo part outside only covered by particles of dirt. Gave it a wash down with some warm water to encourage growh and put it under my lights. The whole sprout was very very tiny. If this little man survives, I am going to name it Lazarus.

Good news? Bad news? Uhmm. Blue Cheese is dead. But I did learn something. Never scar your seed from the back, the place where your seed was attached to the mother plant. If you do that, the "leafs" get enough moisture to feel brave and jump into the world before the roots break open the back of the seeds. They die without the roots VERY VERY fast. You don't even realize they are dead, keeps its color and all that.

Anyway, lesson learned. I did plant Kosher Kush to take its spot. Didn't make the same mistake twice and the seed is germinating as I write this. I was able to see the tiny root peak out.

On another note... durban is doing fine, I dont know why but it seems slow to me. It was not like this with my other grows. Maybe its me being impatient now. I can see the seccond node coming out slowly.


Also, here is my bullshit grow box or whatever you wanna call it...

Its nothing fancy really. Alot of stuff are missing. But ohh well, I will only do 1 or MAX 2 grows and this house. So I don't want to settle in. Pluss, it has to be stealthy. So I have to limit the fans I am running, light cycle times etc. I bought the stickers on the wall from a cheapo shop, they are for transfering light inside cupboards. I figured what the hell... I might add 1 more CFL later on flowering . Figuring out the bits for now... Temps are 70 to 78f and Humidity is 40 to 48.

ANY INPUT WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Here is the current situation of my baby. The big one is Durban Poison. The top left picture shows you two sprouts in one pot. I know a lot of people tell you not to do that... But I do not have room and I don't want them to grow big. Bigger it gets, more risk for me to cut them down before harvest. Hence me using small pots.
Those two sprouts are Pineapple Express and Kosher Kush.
