i would have to disagree with allot of what u said and isnt the best advise. their are side x sides that have shown leds to match HPS with a little less then watt for watt and i dont get leafy buds and do better then when i used HID with my led grows. its all about the lights you use and their NM they use and leds lenses. now their is no leds that will use 90w and beat a 400w HPS it just wont happen and haven't seen it yet.lol. but watt for watt you can get the same or better then HPS with leds with high quality buds and allot less heat issues, i have grown in 100F+ temps with leds and no AC this is possible because leds put off little radiant heat and thats what give you the main heat stress under HPS. also radiant heat is what destroys tricomesI'm just coming across your thread now Schwagbag. I ran a 100% led grow last year to try them out and see whats up. This is my LED grow. https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/345308-600watt-led-hydro-gro-op.html#post4384849What I deduced from the grow, in summary, is this:- LED's will not 'pack a punch' and won't necessarily give you the weight that a HPS will. - LED are great for supplemental lighting along with a HPS because they DO add to thc production and help make nice sticky bud.- Flowering under just LED will cause your bud to be much leafier...it also won't start flowering as fast or as strong as it would under HID's- If you do use LED's make sure to place them literally 6-10 inches away from the tops, it doesn't heat up much at all and the light will be considerably more intense, allowing for maximum weight gain for your buds.That's all I can think of, but check out that link to my LED grow and see what you think. I think there are two harvests in that journal...the grow I have now is primarily HPS, but I do have 2 300 watt LED lights for complimentary lighting.King
also saying to keep the leds 6" from the plants is not good advise and that can really fry someone plants! now 1w leds with 120 degree lenses yes you want to be that close but the new leds that are 3w use 90 degree will bleach or fry the shit out of plants.
not trying to start stuff or anything but just telling what i know from using leds for a long time and seeing many others grows. some of that advice can really hurt a new growers harvest.
ive always wanted that strain! i am thinking of doing the same with my LST grows and cutting all the bottoms or lollipoping them like that just for the tops only

It came out nice, I like to lollipop and train my plants, I don't want any popcorn buds damnit lol. I wish I could have the same luck in my LED tent lol. Shit is at a complete standstill in there now even with the HPS. I need to ditch the scrog so I can better monitor my feedings. I will go back to perpetual in both tents soon.

I actually have one in the tent in Super Soil nothing but water feeding under the LED that is kicking ass. I'm wondering if some of the issues I have are root based at this point. Still experimenting and figuring them out but it appears so far that super soil works great with them as long as the container is large enough for root expansion.

just read through entire thead sad to see the way things went down, regardless you have got me wanted to try that combo you were talking about im like almost certain i am gonig to try that LED and CMH combo gosh ive been looking at cmh for awhile now trying to figure what to do i was stuck on 600hps and 4000cmh but i think i like your combo more ha thank you for being yourself and making a awesome thead

Thank you for the kind words.... I have one in flower for 21 days now and like clockwork is starting to get sick. The timing is consistent with cal/mag deficiency but I am quite certain the super soil is lacking nothing. It will produce the largest most compact buds of any other strain I've ran through when all is said and done. The plant actually looks equal in pace to HID even though its mostly directly under the LED. Its not seriously ill but it is starting to display the same issues. I will get some pics up this weekend. The White Widow scrog (big one) is doing next to nothing. Its at 42 days with very small fruits. Frosty, but small. About the size one would expect at about 20-25 days I would say. PPM runoffs around 850 and PH @ 6.52. Perfecto as far as I'm concerned so I can't think of any other thing causing it to be sick other than the light. There is a possibility that it is root bound but I seriously doubt it.
The bubblegum I put in for a test run is at 55 days, I chopped a few buds off her last week and smoked it last night. Its not a very potent strain to begin with but I think it turned out pretty ok. The buds are small but there are quite a few of them.

I have very little to do this weekend (other than party and relax), I will get some up, I'm thinking Sunday. Not much good to see, but I am planning to put another plant in there as soon as I chop the BG out of there. I'm finishing the WW no matter what. Hoping it will gain some size over the last 20 days.

I've got some new pics, will upload them soon. I've been f$*king with my new blackberry playbook trying to root it and install android market, bouncing between OS's so I don't want to take the risk of a blue screen right now lol.
The White Widwow, which takes up the bulk of the tent has been in for 49 days now. She is very ill, runoffs and PH are fine, I have no clue what her problem is other than it may be a root issue. Going to let her go another week or two then chop all the bs popcorn off her and get her out of there, she's good for hash. The BG is down, nothing to write home about, very little yield of low quality, nothing I want to smoke lol. The top 44 is at 28 days, showing sickness but still producing fruits, larger buds than the WW at 20 days her senior in the tent. I am still optimistic for her but I'm afraid it will get much worse. Still running the 180w PS, I plan to change one of them out and see if one side improves. I took some pics of the leaves also so everyone can see what she's doing under a white flash. I put an AK47 young'n in the tent to see how she responds in fresh soil. Overall still a double failure as far as I'm concerned. I thought the 400w light would help, I'm thinking the WW might be root bound as a mufcker but even then I've never had any of my plants stall like this. She may have been too mature in the 7 gallon when I put her in, I'm leaning towards that hypothesis after a friend suggested it may be the case.
After hounding Mike's ass I have lab test results for the lights, the data is a bit over my head at a glance, I will look it over in more detail when time permits. Happy New Year to all, I hope to keep up better on this thread when I have more time and there is more to share in the tent...
The next update will be less than impressive I'm sorry to say. I just don't understand with the 400 in there I expected major improvements. My 600 tent is still rockin', probably going to add another 600 to make it 1200 in a 4 x 4. Should be some great meds!

Are you referring to my tent or yours? Your comment is very confusing.
Raise the lights high in flower people, no lower than 18" for the 180's I would say. For veg smash them down right on top of them, shouldn't have any issues (don't hold me to that!). There is a major spike at 660 nm, they are running HOT right there which is the optimal absorption wavelength for Chloro A in flower. Mikes explanation makes complete sense to me now. I really do think a CMH would compliment these lights VERY well. I'm ordering one this weekend.

Its due to extreme light intensity in wavelength ranges from 650-680 nm, specifically at about 660nm where the light reaches about 15 on the PAR scale (max chloro A absorption is at 670 nm where the light measures a level of 12 on the PAR scale). This is about 3x the max PAR in the blue light range peaking at 440 nm at about 5.
Basically the blue light wavelength is not as precise and in a much lower intensity compared to the red light wavelength, which is VERY precise and is 3x more powerful by comparison as relating to PAR values. This is why you can keep your lights so close in veg but it torches them during flower. I'm going to keep doing my homework. Seems to me its not a power issue, its a wavelength issue. Too much red, not enough blue and the wavelength bands are too narrow. Those are my thoughts initially.
Canopy control will be very important with these lights just as with any other indoor lights. The necessity to raise the lights higher in the tent/room/box also creates the necessity to have a consistent canopy for max light penetration and usage. Having to set light distances so far to avoid damage also reduces the light's ability to penetrate deeper into the canopy. Super Crop and train those bitches for the best crops!

sorry to be confusing, I was referring to your latest pics, which look exactly like my leaves however under microscope my leaves showed to be brown leaf disease. I had started with the 180 and 290 V2 new ps at top of tent and have not brought them down... however my fxxking clones had root nats and then we brought in spider mites (we think), after spraying 2 weeks, thought we had it licked but leaves still appeared to be burning EXACTLY like yours, so, we waited 4 days and sprayed with combo fungicide/bug killer and removed almost all the leaves. Still hoping we can save the crop, sorry to be so long winded... and I am vegging some new seedlings with a V2 180 at 24 inches they appear to be doing ok...

They're getting cal mag every other feed, that plant has gotten away from me. There was a lot going on with the lighting issues but I'm keeping the PPM's and the PH in rockin steady. Looks like blunts and hash to me lol. I got fuckin wasted tonight, birthday celebration... Bourbon guzzlin, live music, pipes blazin', people runnin away from fatties and peep trippin ass you shoulda brought more ice and ass kinda night! lol....
Time to hit the 600
