LED Grow lights

Hey everybody ive been considering buying some LED lights because they are run cool, are cheap and wont cause too much suspicion. I was thinking about buying this led panel off ebay.

does anyone have any experience with growing with LED lights? All i have is the stock aerogarden lights and need to kick it up a notch.

0 Blue light LEDs: 465nm (nanometer) wave length
165 Red light LEDs: 650nm (nanometer) wave length
165 + 60 = Total 225 LEDs

I also want to know about this but I'm gonna be buying one from sunshine systems...the "grow ufo".

90 watts to equal 400 watts ?!?
Impressive. I'll have it in two weeks.
If no answers before then I'll let you know what happens.

This question/discussion REALLY needs more attention 4 sure!!

I think you will find these wonderfully underpowered for the purposes of growing acceptable ganja. As of now, LED technology has not reached its fullest potential with respect to growing anything.

Perhaps in a few years' time this might change. If you are absolutely concerned about spending cash on lights, consider CFL's. While there is currently no adequate substitute for a good HID light, CFL's are relatively inexpensive. They do however produce some heat, as do all lights, so you may have to deal with that issue regardless depending upon your space. FWIW, if you plan on investing in anything in the neighborhood of 100-150 watts in CFL's, an equivalent HPS can be had for around the same price.

Some moderate wiring knowledge will get you there on a budget, but if you don't feel comfortable wiring something like this, perhaps you would be better off sticking with CFL's. Please don't waste your money on that woefully underpowered piece of junk you were looking at, there are other alternatives.

the only LEDs that are worth it are the really expensive ones aka the ufo! the other ones won't work well even if it says grow light most of those are just to add to the spectrum.

Even the UFO is shit for growing weed. Save your time and money and use an HID light source. 150w HPS put out very little heat, you buy 4 x 150w HPS for like $80 and grow more weed then 10 of those LED panels or a UFO.

I got one of these panels, and you could definately grow weed from one, but it would be small and shitty weed.
I use mine for for the seedling stage because I get mine right on top of the plants as they come up and there is no heat whatsoever. Then swap to 4f fluorescents, and then to 400W HPS.

im pretty sure there's been some comparison between ufo and 400 hps and the ufo was better because it gives the exact spectrum needed.

Im pretty sure thats 100% BS. Sorry.

There has been some fake side by side grows, they were both done under HID lighting then someone threw a UFO over the bigger plant.

You cant compare the results of a UFO to an HID light source. The UFO just can't penetrate the canopy to create thick dense buds.

DON'T!

Stay away from the UFO and other cheapo LED "grow lamps." Check my sig re: Theoreme Innovation's SmartLamp 600 ProBloom. I'm too tired to go into detail right now, because I just spent an hour typing about all this stuff and lost it when I went to post it. I need a night's rest to recover from this, or maybe just a BT. Hmm. A little better. Anyway, I don't want you to be disappointed.

Any one looking seriously into LED grow lights needs to hold the phone before you order something you'll not wish to have been ordered for yourself were you to be such, ordering, disappointedly.

Nugs and kisses.

Looks like an interesting system, seeing as how it uses an actual 300watts, not equivalent. However, for $1400, I'm thinking that one could do better with several HID lights, and a complete ventilation system. That price is pretty steep considering you can invest less with HID's and get more yield per cost.
