any driver at 220V is considerably more efficient than a driver at 110V, and more of a difference than the slight voltage drop lost from remote driver mounting (which can be overcome by upsizing conductors)Attached to the fixture is easiest (and slightly more electrically efficient)
how much would i lose if i would mount the drivers outside and have say a 3m long cable to the panel? (i'm at 220V)any driver at 220V is considerably more efficient than a driver at 110V, and more of a difference than the slight voltage drop lost from remote driver mounting (which can be overcome by upsizing conductors)
driver distance is a factor but a relatively minor factor
Temperature is ranged not a specific number or target. Every plant responds differently to the same environment. Your plants will tell you the ideal temperature if you pay close enough attentionHi,
so today I read (here and 2 other sites) that room temp shoud be 85f/29C.
Is that true ?
So for those of you running a small grow ( 300W max ), do you need a heater to reach this temp ?
Thanks and have a nice day !
No they don't. Plants are fine with anything between say 20C and 35C. That's a range yes, but in the end there is an optimum temperature determined by the humidity, amount of light and whether you supply CO2 or not etc. The plants won't show you which is the optimum temperature. They are still fine with pretty much the whole range. It's just that they produce more at the optimum temperature rather than anywhere else in the range.Temperature is ranged not a specific number or target. room temp and res temps are different.Hi again,
with these room temps, will there be root problems is I use SIPs ?
yes, but won't res temp be to high in a 28-30C room.room temp and res temps are different.
want to try diy SIP, so no chiller. The grow room is not in the basement, no concrete and I don't expect the floor to be cold.thats why some people use chillers
Your plants how they appear are leaves droopy pointing up etc. Your plants will tell you when they are happy or unhappyHi @VegasWinner,
to what should I pay attention ?
Until recently I lived in an appartment under the roof and used HPS, temps ranged between 22C and 30C+.
Except for 30+, I didn't noticed big differences (no CO2).
The I read that with temps under let's say 25C and leds plant metabolism will slow down ?
Hi @wietefras,
I know I'm overthinking, too many monthes without growing
Also excited and a bit worried about switching to led !
Have a nice day !
I'll try again. I think most people would see minimal difference with drivers on the light fixturesup goofy
attachment didnt come thru
i generally assume all the efficiency loss is heat, so 1000W of drivers are putting 70-100W into a room, not a lot
Howits in my basement and its 100 degrees outside,
but i also keep my humidity at 60-70 for most of flower (ramping down both temp and humidity in the end.
i see fastest growth at 85F air temp, 60-70% humidity and 500-1000 ppm or so CO2
I don't worry about my res temp in my SIPS. They each have a 12 gallon res. The room temp is 75-82f. They love it. Side note: I also add an air stone in each one to keep the water oxygenated. Never tried without an air stone, so I do not have a baseline but they do love it.want to try diy SIP, so no chiller.
