Yeah man checked them out they are all around 400w and have an efficacy of around 1.7μmol/w thus being roughly equal to 400watts of HPS.
The SolarExtreme 500 probably did better cause its a white based spectrum.

For me led works for a small grow better than an hps. But you do need to spend about double what the hid will cost and that stops most in there tracks. Especially with so many untrusted options with huge bogus claims.
I deal with less heat, less height restrictions and less energy. For my little 3.5x3.5x5
If you go high end mostly white led quantum boards or cob you won’t be disappointed.
My personal tent has one hlg100v2 and an electric sky es180. The electric sky is a beast of a light!

Yeah, I agree. The two lights you mentioned sound perfect for your set up. The issue that I've had in small tents is heat build up even using led's.
I just saw a write up above the electric sky. What bothered me about them was that they don't reveal spec's other than wattage and par. Yes, it's a white spectrum, but I'd like to know what they're using for lighting strips and the color spectrum and far red specs.

I will attest that the es180 is the real deal. But keeping their diodes a trade secret has the knowledgeable consumer questioning. I pulled the trigger in the end based on logistics and I’m glad I did. It replaces a 200w ledcanada scorpion mcob (they are out of business now) and is killing it.

Heat, I haven’t ever had issues. The opposite for me. I still run a small 600w heater to keep temps at 27/28 for led. My outside ambient is 17/20 deg and I’m positive pressure with a 8” fan.

That's good to know and I'm happy for you. It's a big decision to lay out cash hope it pans out. I was looking at the 300 by them and just couldn't find any reviews that didn't seem to be tied to advertising. It's good to know someone that has field tested it. Their Earth Dust fertilizer looks interesting too.

Whoops, found it. Yes, totally agree that excessive defoliation is undesirable. I have a friend that does it and get good yields. Some of his plants end up looking like bonsai plants. To each there own I guess. I know what works for me. The popcorn bud goes into edibles.

I think I seen somewhere that high temperatures in grow environment will result in lower thc. HPS light is all about high temperatures. Right now I thought I will try to improve my air circulation to cool down my room to 22-25 C

That electric sky is a good looking light. Had a look at the specifications and seems to be quite rich in red/far red, at around 2300K 90 CRI.. Theres a few good looking grows on youtube with it. Bet you are happy.

I've seen CLW spectrum, for what you pay and what you get it's not good at all. I can't see their cri being even remotely close to 80, it would make a big difference with going with some of the mid powered strips in 90 cri.

Ya there's a very detailed one with BubbleMan where he visits a grow that's using a dozen or so of them before anyone had even heard about them. They're great for indoor, really humid environments.

I understand the specs and efficiency of led's. However, my eye test tells me that I'm getting better results with
hps than with any of the other lights I've tried. I'm going to use my cobs as supplemental lighting only.


All that being said, for you, I would recommend the California light works Solar Extreme COB light. It's a quality product built in the US. It's 400 watts and you can probably find one for under $400.

In regard to lights just listen to the first person who responded.

If u are sealed room or ur environment and budget allows then LED is superior.=denser buds, more weight, HPS is so yesterday otherwise.
Purchase the cheap ebay lights at ur peril

Don't agree with you and it seems that you presume too much. I was into LED's more than 6 years ago. I have been an advocate for them for a long time. However, until recently, I had not had the chance to grow under HPS. Now that I have, it's going to take a lot to move me from it.
IT's easy to make statements in hindsight. At one time CLW lights were among the best. No one can argue with their build quality. Out of all of their lights that I've used the Solar Extreme 500 gave me the best results. For under $400 show me a COB that provides equal or better value that offers 400 true watts, has a 3 year warranty, is American made and it's light spectrum is right in the sweet spot of the McCree Curve. So, yes, for a tent needing lower heat and excellent performance I have no problem recommending the Solar Extreme 500. I own three of them and have used them for several grows. Have/do you own any of them to make your claim? I did not say that I didn't like them. I said my results were not what I thought that they could be. Also, in stating that I thought the Solar Extreme gave me the best results I acknowledged that the newer LED cob technology was the most effective of the three that I've used from them. So Professor, maybe you need to check your reading comprehension....Okay?
