Sounds like he has a good idea what he wants and is open to a better available option for his grow. I'm pretty sure somebody here can give some good insight into both lights and the alternatives that might help him for his specific needs.

720 watts, it's in the name. The Diablo are 650w and push way more light over a wider footprint. The Growers Choice are not bad (I have 3 of them) but they're not as good as the HLG Scorpion Diablo by any means.
Growers Choice 720 get like 2.8 PPF/W
Scorpion Diablo (650w) gets 3.2 PPF/W
This equates to more light for less power and heat.

According to the manufacturer specs it draws up to 800w.
The name has nothing to do with actual specs. Otherwise the Spiderfarmer SP4000 would draw 4000w.

It goes to 800w with their controller, the knob @ 100% draws 723 watts per my meter. It's one of the few lights that actually states the true wattage, Luxx also uses the real wattage in the names. I'm aware that a "2000 watt" light isn't actually 2000 watts, anyone should be.

I don’t have the light on hand to say otherwise and the specifications imply it’s 800w PLUS.
I guess you’re saying their specifications are either lying or wrong. Wouldn’t be the first time.

That’s as bad as the Gavita not even posting the price of the light. If you have to hunt down information about a product I’d avoid it like the plague. Nutrient manufacturers do the same thing. If they don’t openly state what’s in them, why would you want to buy them?

Also look at fold-8 or Medicgrow spectrum x ( I’m thinking about this one myself ) .
HLG definitely has their users here so there is that . Timber growlights also is another strong option.
CMH rigs are available too if interested in those setups.
I would actually lurk the growers journals to see actual product use in garden. Too easy to cook the par charts and “ specs “ on line. Go by what’s being used and results .
