2x4 grow tent meant only for veg. plan to keep 3 stages of plants, mothers, clones, and others untill they are big enough to flower in a different tent. What would your pic for led lighing for this area be. I was thinking 3 a51 w100s, 2 rw150s or 3 rw75s. I would like the 3 lights due to the 3 sizes of plants I will keep in this tent. Give me your thoughts please. Thanks!

Since it sounds like this is for vegging you can do without the extra reds in the RW line.

If you're interested in doing a diy lamp you could get a very nice solution for the whole tent for about the same money as 1 a51 light and more efficient to boot.

Not to knock a51, but something to consider.

I want to do a diy panel just for fun and for backup. But can't find a good detailed how to with where to order parts. And I wouldn't know if what I was building was top quality would need some info on it. What have you built?

Yea I just love the idea of being able to flower if I decide to. But I chose 2 w100s I think that'll be enough. I have some t5 fixtures I can use if not.

I've build a few small lights for vegetable gardens. Three, 40w lights for my winter edible garden/nursery and I just finished a 9w light for a friend to experiment with micro greens. I'm working on a 200watt panel with integrates automation controls. You'll have to do some reading, because there have been a few very detailed thread on this forum and in the DIY section of the forum. The stickies are a great place to start, supraSPL's 'DIY led lights-and how to power them' as well as his 'DIY LED CXA 3070' thread, and his 'heatsinks for DIY lamps' thread are great. Anythreads started by stardust sailor will probably overwhelm you with information about all aspects of light building and how to build luxury quality lights. There are also a host of less detailed, but no less important build threads by various users.

There isn't a step:1 step2: thread.... yet, but the info is easily accessed now. COBS like the bridgelux vero series and cree CXA series have greatly simplified DIY lighting.

To give a few shortcuts:
Digikey is a good place to buy bridgelux and cree chips.
Jameco is a good place to buy meanwell drivers.
Fasttech or ebay is a good place for cheap Chinese drivers and lenses
Newegg/amazon/ebay for arctic alpine 11 GT plus CPU coolers, fan driver, thermal paste, kapton tape, drills, taps, and small parts.
heatsink usa for proper heatsinks.

Awesome man that's a great start. I've read supras threads about them and a lot of others. Maybe it will sink in one day lol. For now i was able to and was easier to buy all my panels. I really like these rw150s. I have noticed an insane difference of growth compared to the kind.

I would go with a diy light, he'll if you don't want to build one I would build one for you for like 50 bucks profit. I hate seeing people either A.buy Chinese panels and pay way to much or B.buy decent panels but still pay a good chunk of change when you can have a killer diy lamp for half the cost.

Those units are top of the line' flowering' lights. For veg you can use a lot less horse power, even fluorescents.

I want to be able to grow strong short tight internodal plants. T5s or flour don't cut it for me for my veg. A51 already bought and budgeted for. Just wanna do a diy for fin

For a diy veg panel (cheapest solution) go with some cxa1304 use roughly 8-10 that's only $15 and you only need two drivers so another $20 then your heatsink say another $20 and misc and a fan $20 so for $75 you have a veg light better and more efficient than anything you can buy.
