LED lights from HTG supply-Anyone have any experience with them?

I was looking through HTG supplies website today looking for some supplementary lighting for my 400w MH when I came across their LED lights, and I was wondering if anyone has used them and if they live up to the claims HTG is making. Specifically, I'm wondering about the UFO light they say they have specially made so that it provides all the correct spectrums. Can it really serve as a substitute for a 400w HID? The lower heat and lower operating costs for electricity are really attractive, but I'd like some feedback from actual users before i decide to invest in one.

From what I understand L.E.D.'s at the moment are very good for veg, but doesn't do well in flower. However in the research (growers pics/vids etc..) I always see the L.E.D. light like 2-3 feet above the plant(s). I would like to see a documented L.E.D grow where the light is about 5-6 inch's above the plant(s) the whole grow.

Ok, so it will work for the veg stage. It may be worth it to get one as my next main light then. I'm only using a single light (400w HID) that I can switch out MH and HPS bulbs in right now, but I've been planning to get a second light so that I could run a veg and a flowering area at the same time. I've been a little unhappy about the amount of heat the MH puts out since it seems to burn the plants if it's any closer then 30 inches and my light reader shows it's only hitting around 6-7k lumens at that distance. The LED may solve that issue, since you can hang it just inches above your plants without heat issues. Then I'll just use the 400w with the HPS bulb for my flowering set up.

Still leaves me wondering what to do about some inexpensive supplementary lighting for the sides. I doubt I'll ever grow more then 8 plants at a time, but I just don't think a 400w (or the LED) will cover the area well enough to get by without a few lights on the sides.

I would go with GROWL LED, I have NOTHING To do with this company but I use their products and NOTHING can beat a ALL BLUE LED for VEG. As for flower, still need some time...

What is the main problem during flower? Do the not put out a high enough intensity to penetrate the canopy well, or is it something else? Might it not be worthwhile to use them as a supplement to an HPS tube during flowering?

Thanks Jeff. So it sounds more like it's a problem with getting the light frequencies right for flowering. If I get one it might be an interesting experiment to use both the LED and my 400w HPS during flowering and see what kind of results i get. I'd put the HPS overhead and mount the LED so it faced in from the side somewhere around the middle of the plants. Might give me the best of both worlds with only a small increase in electricty costs.

Sorry for not getting back sooner, been doing allot of stuff and not on the web as if late.
EdGreyfox - I don't have a "problem" with the flower models so to speak, but more time and "fine tuning" needs to be done for me to say that a flower LED model can replace an HPS. I WILL say that for MH, no more, not needed, stop wasting time, money, energy, ect.. with Metal Halides. As for flower, I can say the quality is there, you CAN grow Dank, Heddie, Dispensary medical quality buds with LED, I think many of the issues people are coming across is applying these LED in the same fashion as an HID and tuning your room as you would for HID. I've had to re-tune everything I know (not much) for growing with LED's and now I see that some of my "older" methods don't apply when using LED's, I am now getting the quantity results I am hoping for but I have 1 month + to go so time will tell. but over all I now have what GROWL and most all of the LED's companies advertise as 3500WHT HID equivalent with 6 panels overhead and 1 at each end lighting up the under canopy, so with all of that, we should see a gram per watt dried outcome. I would say LED's DO FLOWER as well as HID. Now, do LED's produce as much as HID, I won't know till March.

90w of any LED won't grow as well as a 400w HID. The best 90w off any LED might be about as good as about 120w of HID or maybe 200w tops

There are good LED lights out there that will grow as well as a 400w or 600w HID but they are expensive!

These are some pics of my 395w (actual draw) LED> It isn't from HTG though
This thing will flower the shit out any plant and should be about as effective as 515-600w HID (this light cost me $1145 though)

The problem with crappy LEDs in flowering is plants can get away with a lot less light in Veg and don't need as many spectrums/wavelengths or even power. Most LED lights are crap because they run each LED with too little power, they use 1-2w LED instead of 2-3w, the reflecting lens angles are too wide or non existant, 1 LED dies and you lose half your lights... etc You can get away with cheap LED for veg but for flower you need a better one. Or you could really do it right and get a full spectrum high quality LED light like mine! Again quite expensive though
