LED lights versus HPS?

Are LED lights better than HPS? I have heard mixed reviews. Just would like to know the benefits from the 2.

HPS = more coverage, cheaper set-up, lots of heat
LED = smaller coverage, more expensive initial but longer lasting, very little heat

Watt for watt (1w led v. 1w hps) they are very similar yield-wise. It all depends on your room/financial limitations.
