LED lights.

Hi im going to be doing a plant within the next 2 weeks butim debating on wether to use a 90watt LED light or a 150HPS bulb for amnesia haze but stil dont no what to use. and also what is goo nutes for the plant at the moment becaus there is that many on the market these days. any tips or help would be much appreciated thanks :joint::mrgreen:

:peace:HI, I LOVE MY LED's, if you are just doing 1 plant, use the LED and keep the Panel CLOSE to the plant, maybe 8-10 inches form the top. I also like to scrog because it seems to have a better cast of light over the canopy, but again only 1 plant. I like Fox Farm, their liquid products work for me in soil, I even use the powders, but if you are doing one plant this might be allot of money to put out for Nutes, than again you WOULD be saving money on electric from not using HID. He will probably save about $.10 per day by going with the LED with far less light. If you do go with an LED you want it alot closer than 8-10" and Fox Farms is just a name. You got any pics of the LED grow you love so much?

Not trying to get into a war w/ ya Bigv, I just know as a former HID user, SOME LED's work well, while other companies are crap, I get better results with LED using ff. This was last harvest...

600w LED
Lemon Skunk from Seed to Mom to Clone
Fx Farm in soil
10 1/2 ounces from 3 plants grown in SCROG

I'll have a bunch of LED christmas lights left over in January. Maybe I could use those and get a random google pic harvest too.

You grow with LED there kermit? Depends on what LEDs ya got. And the abrasiveness doesnt make you seem smarter than nebody.

Josh, If you wanna just do it easy and not worry bout anything, sure go HPS its time tested and most of all the work has been done for you as far as your research and all. LED's are new and there are quite a bit of ppl out there selling garbage. Also, there are alot of people buying garbage, ppl that are on a beer budget buying the cheapest champagne they can find and lets face it there isnt any cheap (real) Champagne. With some money and a fair amount of research into what makes your plant tick and you can get equal results whether its watt for watt is another story... but you still save on electric, bulbs, etc. If you decide to go with LED just be wary, dont get suckered into garbage and just know that someday you might get gunned down by kermit the frog strapped with an Ak47 in some random forum. I am not sure where I was abrasive. The difference in the light bill is gonna be extremely small whn reducing from 150 watts to 90. Everything I have ever read says get the light as close as temps will allow and fox farms $30 per bottle is just ridiculous. Sorry if our opinions vary but I am certainly not being abrasive.

Is it me, or has the site and its forum gone downhill in the last year? It used to bill filled with a so many happy stoners ready to share their knowledge and experience w/ you, and now it seems like all people want to do is get into arguments and be as abrasive as possible. What happened? Who PT'd Roll It Up? :peace:

Secondly, it wouldnt make sense to have a light right up on a plant because there is no coverage. That being said why would i go out and buy a 300-600w if im going to have the same coverage as a 90w? Wouldnt make sense. And you are totally right in one grow how much would you save? like 10 bucks max. but over the period of its lifetime it would conceivably pay for itself in energy costs alone. Not even mentioning bulbs and ballasts (which MIGHT not go out) over the same period of time. LED has some serious advantages... The only problem is that what you read about is the 75% of ppl that dont do research and end up burnt and post shitty grow journals which sends the HID community into a feeding frenzy.
Honestly if it were me and i was worried bout cash or whatever starting out id go HID do one grow, make some money then buy some leds. and fuck growing in dirt inside grow aeroponics look up stinkbuds grow or go to stinkbuddiesDOTcom

I am not sure I understand your philosophy about 90W vs. 600W. That, IMO, is like saying why would I buy a 1000W HID when I can raise my 400W and get the same coverage.

No I can't. Well not without breaking the bank on LEDs. But hey, I'm happy to be shown the light, so to speak. Feel free to convince me otherwise.

But the more I think about the Christmas LEDs, the more I think I'll try it and see what happens. I can get three strands of 100 wide angle LEDs for probably $25 right after Christmas. Maybe I'll go with 4, 2 Warm White, 1 blue and 1 red. I'll make a form to hold them and see what happens when I grow a clone in a Stealth PC box. Heck, you could decorate the plant with them when it gets big enough. Hmmm. Of couse this would in no way reflect on the relative value of growing with real LED grow lights, I just want to see what will happen.

Thats exactly my point in the "right up on em" theory. My mother is growing with a 90w about 6-8 in or so overhead. Shes doin fantastic so far. If you put the leds right up on them where they are basically touching then you get no coverage and it wouldnt matter what you used a 90w or 600w. it would be blocked by the plant. those that proponents of that idea only mean to say that leds are weak.

These guys make great lights that actually flower well too! I would post to the threads that show how their 300w is as good or better than a 400w MH (for veg) and a 400w HPS (for flowering) but is it against the rules of this site to post links to grow journals from competing websites?

everyone has there own views on light, nutes, soil, and so on.
some stuff is better some stuff it depends on what you have supplementing your crops..

your wrong if you tell somebody it wont work if you never tried it.

I think a better way of putting it is "If you don't have any experience with the topic at hand, don't pretend you know it all. You're annoying those of us who do." :)
