LED or 600w HPS in closet with fans only?

I have two LED panels, 110v & one 600w HPS with a winged hood.

my plant is 8 days into flowering (outdoor grow), 2 gallons of soil in a 4 gallon pot. It's getting cooler outside & I need to bring it indoors.
My closet is a nice size. Can I use the LED or should I use the HPS? Afraid it may get too hot in there?
I can't cut any holes for exhaust. but I can put fans in the closet. Would that be enough for heat control?

A 600 HID will generate too much heat for a closet unless you can extract the heat. Recirculating the heat with some fans won't do the trick. You need to extract the heat.

How about you start with the LEDs and if you don't like the progress, move to the HIDs.

If you left the closet open during the 12 hours that the lights are on you could probably get away with fans. But a closet with no air exchange is going to heat up fast. I have two 43watt cfls in a closet and it gets over 85 in there with the door closed.

About how far away or which shelf should I put the lights on?
Thinking about grabbing the plant from outside now

That's a good idea. I'll just try for the LED atm & use the HPS when I start my autoflowers

If you go with the LEDs, depending on their lumen output, I'd put them anywhere between 18 and 24 inches away from your plants. And unlike HPS, maintain that distance rather than allowing the plants to grow into them.

But there are more experienced LED folks on this board who will probably give you better advice. I'm just giving you generalities.

It's okay. I'm just experimenting with hopes of a good outcome. I haven't gotten much feedback on my other posts so your input is greatly appreciated.

Here's what I have now IMAG1655.jpg

Seems to be a little further away than what you said. I'm just not sure how to get them lower yet

You have one of those 14 Watt LEDs. Get the plant much closer to the light. Those little lights are okay for vegging babies and even teens which is what you have but the plants will not grow much.

The light is WAY to far away from the plant. The poor little plant is barely hanging on. HID's will make the closet and oven. Get some whit Panda plastic to protect the walls and carpet too.

Anyone think he could use a T5 from flower to veg or will it get too hot too?

Sometimes it's easier to raise the plants
What he said.

Yea, just put a box underneath the pot. No pun intended.

And if Freddie Millergogo is right and that's a 14watt LED, you are much better off with a T5.

Honestly the best thing you can do with the 14 watt "grow" LEDs is take it out back and shoot it with a high powered rifle.

The bulb I have is 600mh. Does that make any difference with heat at all?
I've read MH is best for vegetative state but will it be okay for flowering? Maybe paired with the Led?

You're still consuming a lot of power. Any light pushing 600watts is going to create a lot of heat. Try venting into the room but youll most likely either have to add an air conditioner to the room or leave a window open. Or run a vent to a window.

Can't emphasise enough that you're going to need to exchange that hot air with cooler air.

You should look into suspending your light somehow instead of having it shining through an IKEA shelf. Whatever your light puts out you're blocking a portion of it.

Would a diy ac suffice in the closet?
Trying to figure out my cheaper options
