the general consensus is that BML is the most trusted at this point. but rather then get into it all again i would go to this thread.

https://www.rollitup.org/t/bml-spyder600-review.823767/

further in the thread (about page 3) you will find charts/specs and videos highlighting different light/brands....I would personally stay away from both black dog and kind. Not that they arent acceptable options, just not the best bang for the buck imo

Its built for a 4x4 footprint and LED's give off little heat. The 1200 was built to replace a double ended 1000w hps so I think it would work great. If your patient bml has a new model coming out next month I believe. If I were getting a bml I would wait and see what the new 1 looks like. It IS a rather large purchase after all, best make sure its the best option available.

I seem to be the only guy who bought the AMARE 880...as soon as I finish a round with them I'm going to post my results.

Good luck dudes.
(...mumbles something about custom COB and DiY while wandering off.)
I have not looked into the DIY cob's.. whats the general price breakdown on something like that? I have in the past been a huge DIY guy...but depending on the item, find the savings don't make sense when I factor in my time spend....

The spyder 1200 imho is the only led worth getting instead of an hid equivalent. If they were only cheaper. Outrageously expensive

If you want to absolutely crush your yield expectations they are the only way to go, but they are spendy. Talking $800-1000 to really cover a 4x4, but you're going to kill 1000W HPS every time with them. Spend time on the LED forums here, read read read.

Well that IS certainly less then I paid for the Amare's :D ...thx for the link, I now have a new thing to obsess over
That assumes you have tools to build them, and buy parts at the right places. Reading about COB lights on trollitup is a good way to find a new obsession, ha for certain.

1 thing I have in spades is tools....not to sound like an ass but being a well paid tradesmen usually makes it hard for me to justify the DIY vs buying because I obsess when building new things and when compared to my hourly rate I dont really save anything....my wife loves to remind me of this fact...especially when my numerous projects take over the garage and then the house. (she maaaay also still be waiting for me to rebuild her 67 VW's engine )

The Spyder lights aren't bad. They are good lights, in fact, but they aren't worth the money when the DiY COB panels are so much better (more efficient). I don't buy all of Spyder's marketing video claims, either. I've seen the real results from independent growers, and they are not bad at all, but not earth shattering, either.

Iam sticking to multiple gavita lamps and just deal with the heat my own ways. Led'S just arent there yet for bigger setups. Closets and tents for personal maybe but supplying patients is a whole different thing. And its going to be awhile before led gets up there. The ambition, marketing hype, and desire far outweigh the technological capabilities at this point.

How big are you talking? 10,000ft/2 or bigger? There will be many bigger ops that go with COB LES before 2016 is over. There are no pre-fab LED products that are competing with Gavita, yet, I'll give you that. However, within a year the game will change a lot, commercial ops are on their way to using COBs, it isn't going to be a while. Within 5 years HID will be a relic of a by-gone era.

I do like them, and I have no personal interest in the business of Cannabis itself. We get it, you like your Gavitas, by the same token.

I'm just a tech guy growing his own, but I assert that in the next year you will see commercial ops putting them up in place of DE Gavitas. We disagree, fundamentally, and that's OK.
