I'm a few days away from my first LED grown harvest. I have two 90 watt UFO's covering a 3' x 3' x 6' area housing six plants. The characteristics of this grow is exactly syncing up with what I have read about LED grows. There is a SLIGHT reduction in over all yield but my buds have never looked frostier. There is an obvious increase in resin and tricome production. And since I grow for personal consumption and not for profit, the name of the game is quality, not quantity. Some critics of LEDs complain about the lack of canopy penetration but there is an easy and free way of combating that, shorter plants. I kept my plants at about 2 1/2' tall and the buds on the lower branches were just as impressive as the ones that resided higher. Also, my LEDs have reduced my over all power consumption. They don't emit heat so there is no need for vigorous ventilation. I just open the vents of the grow tent and an 8" fan on the lowest setting does the rest. My electricity bill went from approx. $300/mo to around $120/mo. I'm so pleased with my LEDs performance in the flowering chamber that I am planning on converting both the clone and veg chambers to LEDs as well. So if you are growing for yourself, I say, deal with the slightly larger investment because it will pay for itself in no time.
