What up ill toxic, well I've used products from Vipar and from magnum I used to own a magnum 357 but man that thing was a cheap piece of shit seriously I had that thing and a spectra 290w both in my tent and the magnum looked like a toy compared to it and results said the same. Now although I have not used the magnum plus I can bet Dave or what ever his name is is back to his sketchy marketing techniques and just for that reason alone I would buy from him but when you break down the numbers the Vipar looks to be a better buy. The magnum + says it runs at 357watts or something like that but I doubt it does.....that's what they said about the first one and it only ran at 180w then you factor in that the mag plus costs 1200$ or so.....I would say that's problem nearing a 200% mark up on what he is paying....Fuck that! Looking at the Vipar unit you get 300w of true power for about half the price of the mag + so you could almost get 2 A300's for the same price. All that and I haven't really seen to much done journal wise with the mag pluses , so overall I think the choice is clear man don't put money into the pockets of people that don't give a shit about anything but money in fact its companies like magnum and many others that have held the led industry back with ridiculous lies and markups.

Grrrrr my computer is a piece but I agree with sensi too blackstars do produce but they market there lights as higher wattage than they are and they only have a one year warranty..... But hey if they work they work.

He is charging way more than 200% markup, believe me. Have you seen how much these things cost if you order direct from china?

That is the other issue I had with buying one of the fancier ones... every big company I heard some good things, but I also heard bad stories or stories of how the owner's a dick... i decided fuck it at least if i end up getting screwed on the price of leds it won't be the price of the expensive ones ;)

Waddup guys!

I've use Stealth 602 LED panels and they workout great. I would prefer to be using 3w diodes, but new products are coming out with latest advancement in technology. Anyhow, I'm currently testing Kessils H350 LED lights if any of you are interested in following along and checkout results in ebb and flow system using Dyna nuts. I also have another grow going on with a 602 panel. Check them out! Hoping LED's will soon dominate the HID market!

Thanks for the informative responses!!! Really helps out alot..... I have been searching around even more and noticed that California has a SolarStorm line an 800W vs a 400W.....I also notice that these particular models have 5W diodes instead of 3W....Is that gonna equal more penetration+energy levels??.....I was reviewing some journals on their forum and noticed they work really well....I plan to do most of my first grows in supersoil and adding teas as needed...What I am mainly interested in is the best I can get for the money... I am hoping to get that g/watt ratio going on... Maybe if I purchased 2 panels like previously mentioned and spread my coverage rather than just buying one.

You have any links to your journal bh? Would love to see how the stealth works for you.

Stay away from California lightworks too illtoxic they also charge ridiculous mark ups....some of the worst in my opinion and again they lie about the actual wattage of there lights.

I disagree about california lightworks being ridiculously expensive. Dollar per watt they are actually a better buy than most others, especially when you take into consideration the quality of their components and design. And they don't necessarily lie about their wattage, the website clearly states nominal and actual wattage, they just chose to go with a nominal naming convention. CLW is definitely in my top 5 led companies.

i could only find the info on the "800w" but if they run there chips at like 60% so that means there charging 2000$ for a 480w and 1000$ for a 240w light give or take .... not that great of a price at all and i bet its because he marks his shit up and i dont think they should be running them much higher than that but im not totally familiar with 5w chips , this guy can afford full page adds in hightimes for a reason folks he's ripping good people off!

Good points on the higher wattage models. The "800w" is 450w in veg and 620-650 (w/ uvb bulbs on) in bloom mode. I agree even 2 grand for 600w is expensive. Not sure why they get more expensive with the higher wattage? I was really looking at the "200w" solarflare which says it's really 165w. @ $450 that isn't too bad considering there's a lot of other lights out there in the similar wattage range, give or take, for over $500. I haven't used one, but I did talk to someone from there a couple times when I was thinking about getting and everything about their product seemed to be of genuine quality parts and sturdy build. The journals I've seen with them all were impressive so they've always been on my radar.

The 800 can run as high as 650 watts for $999 and the 400 can run as high as 300-330 watts for $599.

What I don't like is this "Growers Feedback Program". They play it off as if it is something special that gets done and if you participate you get a deal. But it seems in reality that everyone that applies for the GFP gets accepted. If you read the logs on their website there are many logs that are started and never updated.

You can get "accepted" into the program and never start a grow journal and they won't bother you one bit.

IMO the GFP prices are the real prices.

"Come get a Coca Cola, Normally retailing for $4.00 I'm selling a 20oz today for only $1.25!"

That being said I like the lights even though I hear they are heavy as shit and run hot. I just don't like the marketing practices.

Running hot would be a BIG issue for me. One of the main benefits I like out of mine is that they are lower heat profile without adding extra ventilation.

After looking at the blackstars they look like a decent buy for wattage per dollar. Especially these new 2013 models they market as being 30degrees cooler and more efficient.

I understand this is a hypothetical question because many of you I assume have not tried the VEG blackstar light but do you think it would be more efficient than a high wattage MH?

I am really liking the Raptor from Black Diamond as well...

no offence there illtoxic but it seems you keep getting sucked into the marketeers of the industry the companies that care more about a dollar than there customers or even the industry they are in ...... advanced , california light works ....stealth grow (srry eyecandi), hydro grow led , all these companies and more are in this industry for money .... that is all. cammie from hydro grow led is well know to be a huge scammer and marketeer jumping for market place to market place stealing good peoples money ....do a google search on her and youll find some real truth .....after you get past the first page of lies she paid SEO guys to post up about her ...... and like i say other companies i mentioned and others i didnt are doing the same thing , they saw an opertunity where people were spending lots of money on new products that were not fully tested and they capitalized ..... and they are still doing so charging 200% 300% even 400% markup on items that should be coming to us at a much cheaper price that would in turn make a huge change if not revolutionize growing as we know it ...... so a big thanks to these fuck holes for ruining and making the led industry look bad and "overpriced" compared to hps.......

I will probably have to just end up going with MH/HPS until more advances are done in the LED field... I know that most of the time they advertise the maximum wattage that is available by multiplying the LED number by 3... I am however aware that LED do not run at 100% 24/7....What I am looking for is an LED that has high true wattage....provides that sweet 60degree angle for that deep penetration..Has a veg model and a model for flowering...what about the CREE 10w is that gonna outperform the 3w? It is higher wattage but I have read over the forums 3w is the ideal...

This will help my research of different companies and which to finally choose if I do follow suit....
1.List the top 3 best LED grow companies based on quality and wattage..price somewhat but you get what you pay for most the time...except for them scammers like ya say.

I do like that advanced does give you a 90 day return policy.....So as long as you got it going the day it arrives it gives you some time to see how you think it stacks up...

lots of companies offer that money back crap but ya good luck getting a full run in before your time is up .... it does look better when a company does this for sure
