I got my cobs, and built a frame.
It is time to attach the heatsinks to the frame.
Then I think, that putting the leds in the corners may not be the best light spread.

The setup:
3x3 grow tent
28x28 light frame
6 Cree 3590's
Running the cobs at 50 watts each
1 HLG 320/1400 driver

I chose 6 @ 50 watts because that was the low end of the watt per square foot I wanted and cost and heat and room.
Came up with 3 arraignments.

1 all 6 cobs in line about 6 inches from the frame edge.

2 all 6 cobs on the edge

3 kind of a circle, the 2 inner cobs at the edge and the 4 outer cobs closer to each other.

What is the best coverage?
I will use a couple of small fans to control heat.

I'd go with the "circle".

Definitely not one. If you were going to have your heat sinks that close to each other, it'd be pointless to build your frame as long as you did in the first place. But mine are 2 4-cob bars and are aligned like your middle pic, farthest apart on all.

a version of #2, mounted concentrically in your tent and then left to be adjustable like @PSUAGRO mentioned.... ...Every light I have ever setup is perfectly centered for its output and space....some people are allergic to math around here, but it sure helps in situations like these :leaf:

oooh this grainy 160u mixed with the 73u is awesome with solar hits...I digress :peace:

Lenses or reflectors is a need to know probably to answer that question properly.
Maybe consider keeping the Driver outside the tent like SixStrings did w/ his room, might be a good idea to reduce heat.
Nice light!
2 more cobs @ 50 watts & youll be growing for max cob yield just about.
What K-Temp did you choose?

None of my friends will understand my level of excitement here, so I'll share with with my RIU family. My new grow light shipped and is en route! I haven't been this excited since the day of my wedding. I've purchased the CX-16 made by Johnson Grow Lights (https://www.johnsongrowlights.com/products/cx-16).

I can't wait to start my new grow, from seed, complete with a journal.
Big Johnsons - good people :hump:

Hope you got vertical height space! That thing needs AT LEAST 2 FEET

I can't believe you haven't "Realstyle'd" that HydroponicsHut yet lol
Lol!
It's actually doing alright w/ supplemental white added to the equation.
I will be switching the cobs out for white ones after this run though.
I can't smash it. It's a great veg light at least. Might even be a great flower light once the white cobs go in it.
Did you ever do a run w/ those Johnsons you won? Was wondering what your cob experience was like?

Agreed. You'll get at least a SERIOUS 4X4 BLANKET of light at 2ft. I'm sure you could get a good 5x5 at a bit higher
I hope so! I almost went with the Secret Jardin Orca, because I really liked the idea of combining that light with the Orca film (the tent is 4x4), but figured it'd be better to go with a 5x5 Gorilla Tent. I hate making these kind of decisions. No matter what I always second guess myself.

Now I just gotta figure out what exact strain I want to go with, and how many plants on top of that. Here's to another long night of Googling!
