Another marginally effective method to generate humidity, is to pour a 5-6" or so depth of perlite into the bottom of a storage tub(or bucket or what have you), and simply keep around 2-3" of water in the same container. Larger surface area, more evaporation. A box fan will help too. A ridiculous number of tubs would be needed to really crank it up, but it CAN work.
The old Errowid humidification technique, used during my freelance mycology experimentation days, just before the turn of the century....

I wasn't on RIU for the last 2 years so I missed a lot on tech and products...but I will learn thanks to you guys!
So last time I was here cxb3590 3500k CD @1400mA was one of the best option(@700mA would be a better one with twice the cob)!!! I saw there is a DB now so it should be even better(10lm/w more I would say!)and citizen started to make COB!
From what I see QB288 with lm301b diodes or chips is the new best led available atm with 220lm/w but I guess it is at very low mA and for 5000k not 3500k!
So my question is which led give the best lm/w per $ today!!! Is it Cree citizen bridgelux Samsung??? If I remember well my cxb3590 3500k CD @1400mA are 160lm/w and I want to build something in the 190/200lm/w range to get 20% more light and see If I get 20% more weight and going scratch the 2gpw!!!

Have a look at Samsung's Q-series strips they also use LM301b top bin diodes and you get them from digikey. 3500°k is 198lm/w at nom. current and strips allow a much better distribution. You could use strips only 10" above the tops and still have good uniformity and unbeatable penetration.

Thanks! So you say 198lm/w for 3500k @ 0.65mA! I guess it is 0.2w each diode so we need 5 to make 1w so about 40lm per diode? Is it correct?
Uniformity is what I am looking for along with efficiency...i use all the surface when I grow...no way to be able to watch the floor...buds carpet!!!

Hi! 100w is not that good..half of it is! You can find better option even on aliexpress! I use my cxb3590 (137w max) at 50w max and I can dim it to 5w mini and I get 1.3/1.4gpw (organic soil no co2 no a/c only an extractor and a fan in 8 gallon pot and in 110days from seeds to harvest) i use to get 0.7/0.8gpw with my 600w HPS! There is people who use theirs at 75w but they have less good results and there's even people who use theirs at 25w max and a guy from RIU pulled 1.9gpw not far from 2gpw so think about it!
You can find COB kit at kingbrite Alibaba it is where I buy almost everything except the driver and heatsink who are cheaper from local dealer(because of the weight) but now they sale complete kit where you just need a screwdriver and to know how to use it no more skills required

With cxb3590 @ 50 watts I can't seem to get over 1.4-1.5gpw and from reading a lot of the replies 1.3-1.5 seems to be the average.
Anyone getting 1.8gpw+ with these at 50w? As I'm very curious about the setup (sog?).
My setup consists of 120 x cxb cobs and 240w worth of hard strips in 12 plants. Accrual used grow space about 12x16ft
However, this run atm, I've added 6 extra plants in 5gallon pots to see if I can get,over 1.4gpw with the extra thickness
Edit: another addition I've added current grow is a temperature controlled exhaust fan. They regulate the temperature wow amazingly!

Hi! Not at 50w! If you run them at 25w you will go scratch the 2gpw!!! 10 COB per plants wow you must grow monster plants...i get same weight on average on 5/6 (3/4 sat dom and 6/7 indica dom)weeks vegg plants but you can't see the floor and the top is a carpet of buds! Growmau5 almost reach 2gpw with cxb3590 3500k CD @700mA and today you can get the DB so they should be almost as efficient as strips!

Are you doing one plant per 4x4 then? Scrog? You would likely see higher gpw with 4 plants per 4x4. I know you can fill huge spaces with 1 plant but it does seem the more tops there are the smaller those tops end up. At least in my experience.
I usually allow 2x2 ft per plant and having tried a few different scrog sizes like 2x2, 1.5x2, 3x3 and 2x4 the 2x2s consistently got more weight than 2x4, gram per square foot wise. All under the same lighting.
If I remember right Growmau5 had more plants in his space hitting higher GPW or GPSF. My best was 1.67gpw, confident I can beat that with more effort.

I agree with it! 4 plants in a 4x4 in 10gallon pot! I have 6 in my 4x4 in 8 gallon cause I don't have vegg room atm so I need a fast vegg(just got 1ft2 for seedling) I use to grow 16 in 2 gallon and before that 32 in 1 gallon! Now it is big pots no till and worms!

If you have 30w per ft2 it is good imho! You are in the good growers club! 42 x16(for a 4x4)=672g from a 4x4 sounds legit to me! From 480w it is more than honourable! It is what I pull on average and I grow since 1998! I don't say I am a pro but I have experience in commercial grows and there is a lots of growers who called their self Master grower and who can't pull a gram per watt without hydroponic system co2 a/c in a controlled environment with tons of products clone elites...because they told you that HID lightning have always be the best and will still remain the best whatever you say or prove them!!!

Pot size to me always comes down to the amount of veg time they will receive before flip. Most of my vegges are 4 weeks or less so I never need more than 3 gal pots.

Well this is my 3rd grow under LEDs and I cannot complain. The lights are cool and offer me stealth growing. This is just closet grow with the LEDs
