First of all- if anyone is gonna post something negative WITHOUT any LED grow experience- forget about it.
I've been doing a lot of reading over the last couple of days about LED grow lights. Some other forums have had invaluable info on setting up your own lights. I'd like to know if anyone has done this already- hopefully we can get something great started.
So far I've figured out that peak absortion for blue light is between 425-450nm and red 630-660. Also that you only need about 10% blue light.
I'm going to be ordering some led lights and building my own setup- but i'm not a brilliant technical guy so I need help with some figures. What should I be looking for in terms of luminous intensity? (mcd). Also should I be using 3mm? 5mm? High power LED's? Any help here would be appreciated because most of the pre-fab led kit suppliers don't show these specs.
