Legal pot could be big employment headache

Some Californians are in Denver this weekend to watch the San Diego Chargers play the Broncos in the NFL playoffs, and while there they could take advantage of Colorado’s new law that allows marijuana to be consumed for recreational use.

These tourists would not be able to bring any marijuana home, but as long as a host of laws are adhered to — including someone with a Colorado ID making the purchase at a licensed store — there would be no problem with someone who wants to enjoy their drug of choice.

The problems could start Monday, or a week, or a month later, after this person returns to work. Employers in California test for drugs regularly and often fire people whose tests turn up positive for cannabis. Most of these tests are conducted as part of the screening process, and it is very common for a qualified job applicant to be denied a job for failing a test.
The California Supreme Court ruled in 2008 that the Compassionate Care Act, the 1996 law that opened the door to medical marijuana, protected Ross and others from criminal prosecution. It did not mean that pot, still classified as an illegal drug, was acceptable in the workplace.

Hey, another neat concept would have been for them to legalize when they had the first crack at it, how much further along would we be?
Oh, and sorry about the loss for your team(yet again.)
Was in a shop yesterday that had a sign about they were designated retail sales to the public no card needed but they decided to delay that a bit and see if folks were gonna be flashbanged and held at gunpoint for selling a little "legal" weed.
Good day!

Could be? Wasn't this one of the biggest arguments fro pro legalization? Lol..here in NY they finally legalized medically...if you have cancer...and go to a hospital...and if your lucky to have insurance MAYBE nly spend 300 bucks for a ER RX for like a eigth. A 300 dollar eighth and a crippleing diseases? SEEMS LIKE A GOOD DEAL...it's eventually going to be recreational but just how much longer of this shit...I don't think it's going to be the 8 billion dollar industry some trumped up reports said but it'll deffly give profits.

Everyone of my bosses have simply informed me that I had to pick up all my roaches when I was done so the next shift or someone else wouldn't see them on the floor. I can get away with a joint in my mouth while at work while others have been fired for just saying a few words.

I know the feeling. I lie about how close I am with my store manager. I am a felon, no real experience, and he gave me a good high paying union job while others with college degrees are working registers. It's about who you know in life now what you know ;)
