Legalities of Patient/Caregiver Match Up Site

I am thinking of creating a match up website, something like match.com, but for patients and caregivers here in Michigan and I am wondering what some of the legalities might be especially at the Federal level.

I would make it clear that it is not a 'hook up' website and that patients and caregivers would be working within the law and the Michigan Medical Marihuana Program. Short of making the policies clear and having those that sign up check a box, I can not nor do I want to police it beyond that. I wouldn't be taking patient Id's and verifying them with the state. Again, it is something that can't be done even if I wanted to do it which I don't.

I know folks hook up through the Internet. It might be Craig's List or some secretive site, but I am not aware of any of those site developers or owners going to jail over it.

I know this is something sorely lacking in Michigan. Just wondering what my liabilities might be.

DEA monitors craigslist. I would not be surprised if your site would be popular and awesome, right now id love to find someone to swap my cuttings for hash plant/100% indica cuttings. You can put disclaimers up that LEO cannot sign up but im sure that shit doesnt work. LEO would love your website. The ones that enjoy fuckin with medical patients will.

That being said. I think you should make the fookin site. Im a web developer myself. Make it and just make it clear to everyone that they are being watched. Do some googlin, you might be able to find craigslist busts, I have found a few reports of LEO fucking with people in Denver. We cannot hide under a rock, we got constitutionally protected states rights, and I think we need to keep chuggin along and develop things like this. One craigslist sting I read about was some LEO showing up with 7 clones, trying to sell the 7th one at a discount, then afterwards the guy (who refused the 7th clone) gets rolled on by 3 white vans checking his papers asking him all kinds of questions etc.

Just include a section on your site that tracks busts and dea overstepping, reports of being stung and locations.

Yea, I wouldn't be surprised if LEO looked into it. The site would require a login and you would only see caregiver information. Basically a patient search engine for caregivers based on location, strain, budget, etc. and then make a "friend request" to the caregiver. If the caregiver accepts, the two can message and make arrangements to meet in person. I could see LEO signing up as a patient and friending caregivers. If LEO has a card and they fill out all of the paper work and follow the law, I don't see that there would anything to bust the caregiver for. If, on the other hand, a caregiver signs up just to sell weed and sells it to LEO without a card - well, that is the risk he runs. My big concern is if the site owner would be charged. Facilitating a drug transaction? Interstate commerce because the Internet was used?

If you pissed off the wrong person, even by just existing, yes, im sure they could find something to fuck you on. If there is nothing, and they are really disliking you, they will analyze your tax returns. lol. It just depends. Best to talk to a lawyer about this shit, but im pretty certain that because of the grey perception of this area, they could fuck with you all they want and you couldnt do shit.

Or you could be very successful and everything is honky dory, you're featured in Wired magazine etc lol.
