Update another failed grow, after 7-8 days I checked the seedlings and they had almost no roots? I also had gnats, so I trashed the whole grow so annoying. Also tried hempy bucket with hydroton and that was just a big failure, out of 10 grows I have failed atlest 8 the rest was meh.
Methinks if you're having that poor of success and you called yourself a n00b then you came to the right place because RIU has some pretty serious people that know their $H!zN!T and if you can conquer the ability to LISTEN closely with little to no questioning the people that can garden better than MANY in their sleep (and many folks are super friendly and able to give guidance), but again if you're looking to learn they're able to teach. True learning was always told to me in my grade school days, by the math teacher he always said "I don't want to teach you repetition I want to teach you to learn how to learn."
I used to laugh about it but now I'm much older I couldn't agree with that man more. Anyone can be a parrot but being to see through the smoke and think outside the box AND learn the ability to reason on your own does wonders for figuring things out.

I don't use poisons on the stuff we grow and I do try to use OMRI listed and organics over other things wherever possible.
I suggest you get a phone app for "light meter" (Photone, PPFD Meter)and get some of these for gnat control :
(Menards and the other big box stores/amz have it)
IMO there wasn't a good reason to bail on the grow because you'll have to overcome things EVERY TIME!

$130 hydrofarm mini sunburst 150w hps from canadian tire and a fresh 28L bag of pro mix omri certified 3 months fertilizer included organic soil (also from canadian tire) solved my led problems (kingbrite 4 bar 240w)

for those in warmer and more humid climates i imagine the led would perform better but this light in particular at least where i live is more damaging to plants than its worth and no way in HALE i would keep a grow space higher than 26°-27°C

the sheen and suppleness was hard to get with the led in this climate. in retrospect, even some sunblaster bulbs grew super healthy plants effortlessly. not so with the led
