Hate to tell ya, but trichromes are on bud. They don't turn into it.

White hairs come out of bud. Without using a scope, if you are basing harvest off hair color alone, when most of them have turned color and receed. The problem with harvesting that way is some strains go through spurts where they pop out more white hairs even as the plant is reaching optimum harvest. Best bet is to get a look at the trichs. Then its a preference. Mostly cloudy upper heady high, mostly amber couchlock. Go to far past prime THC degrades.

Go do yourself a favor...go to radioshack or somewhere that sells a pocket magnifier....at least 30x or more. Preferably one that is 100x. You need to look closely at the actual trichomes, not the hairs that you are refering to. Those are botanically called pistils and they can turn from white to red to brown. You want to see the actual resin glands to tell when you are close to harvest. They should be all clear at first, then they slowly turn from clear to cloudy, and finally amber. Depending on how you want the high to be (cerebral or couch lock) you want to harvest usually when most are cloudy.

Go by the color of the Trichomes is the best way.

Like everyone is saying bro going by the hairs doesn't really work. The only sure-fire way to know when the plant is done or not done is to get a scope. All other methods are guess work and thus unreliable at best. Also w/o pics it's pretty much impossible to tell you even roughly how far along you are and if the progress of the pistils is "slow" or not.

Go out to your local radio shack and pick up one of these. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2179604 Works brilliantly, especially with the light built in that requires 2 aaa batteries, don't forget those.

if all ur tric's are clear u still got aways to go...
remember if the breeder says 55 days and your 12/12 flip stretch isnt done until 10 days later from 12/12
your flowering time doesnt start counting until the stretch is done so if its 55 days and it took 10 days to get into full flowering mode,
add 10 to 55 days which is 65
