Let The Growing Begin!

::UPDATED 6/26 Pictures Of Grow Spot!::

Sup guys. You may have seen my last few threads asking questions about outdoor growing and such. I believe that I pretty much know the basics about growing and I would like to throw my hat in and see what I can grow.

My main grow spot will be in the woods near the lake. I happened to come across a clearing a few days ago that I wanted to use but frankly was too much trouble to get there...Maybe that's a good thing. lol

Anyways, today or tomorrow I am going back with a shovel, potting soil, and my new germinated seeds. I am going to try the trick of seeing if the sprout curls to tell wheter or not they are female (I noticed this in the last batch of seeds I germinated).

The clearing from what I can see is about 10ft x 5ft which I think should be plenty of room to grow. I am going to plant the seedlings 3ft apart from one another so the roots have room to grow, plant them, and give them all the care I can.

What I planned on doing is digging a hole in the ground and filling it back up with potting soil for all the plants.

My only question though, is how big does the whole I dig need to be, and do I just fill that all the way up with potting soil?

I also checked out a calendar that tells me when the time changes to 12/12 here and that doesn't happen until September 26.

So if I were to start growing today, precisely how long do my plants have to veg and how big will they get? They will be recieving direct sunlight throughout most of the day also.

I figure that I will have ~3 months for my plants to veg, or will they stop growing before the day changes to 12/12?

I want to have long enough to train my plants too so I can have them bush out instead of being tall and maybe drawing unwanted attention. Will I have enough time to do this?

Also, it starts getting pretty cold here in late october/early november..so that only gives me ~2months for my plants to flower...Is this long enough?

I will keep you guys updated on how things turn out, and I would GREATLY appreciate any tips I can get from any other outdoor growers that have possibly been in the same situation as me, or someone who has grown in a clearing in the woods ;)

Thanks

::UPDATE:: Found a grow spot!

First spot:

Looking into the trail from the lake (The spot is off to the left on the far side of the picture):

This is when you walk up in and make a left turn through the brush:

I'm facing the spot with my back to the lake (As you can see the sun still hits it a little bit late in the day too...That's about 7:20pm):

The sky looking straight up from the spot (It was cloudy and was supposed to storm today):

Second Spot:

Again, I have my back facing the lake and the sun still makes it through:

Another angle of the spot:

Thanks for the support. I just read through your entire thread and enjoyed it. I'll definately be learning some from you as I read your thread and get my grow underway.

The only thing really holding me back right now is my buddy is asleep and won't wake up...So I can't go do my dirty work. Oh well....Maybe it will be better later...not so goddamn hot!

what kind of seeds are you doing? or are they just bagseed? cuz once you know the strain you can see how long the flowering time is.

Haha...I read through a lot of it.

And here are some pictures of the new location. I went hiking around the lake with a friend for a couple hours and we stumbled upon this. It is only accessable by a few trails through the woods that take forever to get there, or by boat.

I highly doubt anyone is going to be looking hard enough to even see these spots.

Anyways...pics!

I am going back tomorrow with some trimmers and I'm going to cut away some of the overhead branches blocking light. I am also going to dig holes and fill them with potting soil.

How much potting soil should I use for each plant? I am on a VERY limited budget.

But other than that, how do these spots look? The sun was setting so these plants will be on a westward facing slope. From what I could tell, it looks like the plants may get atleast 5 hours or more of direct sunlight.

dude all my shit cost under 50 dollars ... how many plants you want? a 3.8 cu ft compressed bale of peat moss did about 10 plants .. and 2 8qt bags of perlite , a bag of each bone meal and blood meal , but then nutes were like 50 for the FF soil trio .. that bale is HEAVY so it would be good to have a partner help you

People go by on boats alot yes...but no one would even think about anyone growing weed in there.

As far as people actually coming to that part of the lake....No...There were a few beer cans and a little trash but thats it. The main place to go to on that side of the lake is this spot they call "The beach" It looks right out over the lake at the dam and people party there a lot.

I can see this being a problem because people may be there when we decide to go check in on our babies.

I'm going to try and get my hands on some potting soil today and then I'll be heading back to the grow spot to dig some holes and cut some limbs down.

About the holes....How big of a hole do I need to dig per plant?

Would this be a good idea or no?

If I dig the 2'x2' holes, can I mix the potting soil with some of the top layer of dirt to try and conserve potting soil?

If so, what would be a good ratio of dirt to soil? I was thinking 1:3

u can mix cause i did haha but 1:4 ratio i think would be good 1:3 should also work ... mine was only about 1:5 ..

I guess that really depends on the quality of the soil at your patch, make sure you dig deep enough to get through the clay.

Wouldn't the top soil be best since it has all the rotted plant material in it?
yes that's why u use it ... i dug down into the clay about a foot .. this was like different clay tho is was like sub soil B for like the whole thing (or top soil and clay mix)
