Okay so I'm headed off to home depot tomorrow to try and get a balast and hps bulb for budding. Any advice? I need all the help I can get. What EXACTLY should I get?

I dont think you want to go to home depot for your HPS light and ballast.

What size is your grow area and how much height do you have?

My grow area is about 5'x5' and I only plan on supporting about 3-4 plants MOST. And I can vegetate them. I have NO issue with that. But when it comes to budding I need help. I need a hps and ballast and yea home depot carries flood light hps lamps and that works just as good I juat need to know what bulb to get. I can get up to a 500w but I would like to keep it around 150 I just need to know what lumens?

Lumens are a measure of brightness... That would be determined by the bulb..

What SHOULD I use though? I KNOW it's the color. But what should it be?
Lumens are not the color.

Are you sure you are talking about HPS bulbs or are you talking flourescents? Cause flourescent bulbs have different light frequencies 3000K - 6500K or something like that. Is that what you are looking for?

What is the cheapest, yet good enough for dense nice buds, lights I could use?
There are no cheapest yet great dense bud lights...

Because of your bizzare question I looked up the temperature of HPS lights and they seem to be in the 2000 - 2100K range. HPS bulbs are a type of bulb so their temperature does not change significantly. To change the temperature range people use HID lighting for vegging which has a different temperature range.

If you want to go cheap you can buy T-5 flourescent fixtures or use CFL bulbs but you are not going to get dense nuggets.

If you want quality buds you are going to have to look at a 600 - 1000W HPS light system which will run you somewhere between 150 & 250 dollars.

I'm like dirt poor and I have a 4' double tube fixture. Is there no lights I can buy to use for budding? Are there none strong enough?
