Let's talk serious SCROG

I went to 3 times a week watering and had -planned on keeping one feeding per week but when I checked them yesterday they had retained most water from Tue watering so couldn't feed them. Should I wait for them to dry out and feed them more or maintain my schedule of 1tsp/gal floranova with them missing a meal. I plan on flipping this weekend, 58 days veg, screen filling in nicely, pics later. Oh btw do I keep tucking after the flip or just let em grow ?

Don't be so rigid. If you want tight regular schedules then grow hydro. Let them dry out nice then switch to your bloom nutes when you flip.

To tuck or not depends on allOt of things but in general yes, tuck

Legally is again right, it is hard to maintain a strict feeding schedule with soil due to humidity changes and the plant's need for water day to day. when I grow in soil I use the second knuckle rule; if any of you finger gets moist when inserted into the soil up to the second knuckle don't water. Root rot is VERY common in soil scrog because you can't use the "lift the bucket" technique to see how light your soil is (unless your screen is attached directly to your bucket) I myself have suffered minor root rot because of my inability to test the soil's water amount.

Update day 7 of 12/12 Violator kush scrog.

Switched to mostly flowering nutes a couple days ago, some flowers are forming but the stretch is still in full force, gained about 6-8 inches so far and the girls are getting really bushy.

This is my first run with VK and there is very limited information on the strain, seems pretty typical 8 week flower, both plants were from seed and I have taken clones from both but they seem to be pretty uniform at this point.

Nutrients are;
Fox Farm tiger bloom, open sesame and flora micro ph'd to 5.9 roughly 1600-1800 ppm

Still trying to afford a co2 tank and regulator so going the yeast/sugar route. Most people knock it but its better than nothing, was saving for that and a new vent system and then 2 nights ago I hit a deer, crushed in my front end and i have a 1000 dollar deductible = no upgrades to the grow for a bit.

temps are hovering around 78 at the top and 70 at the res (the light vent is actually heating my apartment during the day with outside temps in the 40s and under)

Here's a couple pics (I know, nobody likes flowerless pics but here they are anyway)

I have read that the VK is a very odorous strain.
Is she skunky?
Honestly I can't really tell, the same room in the house has a grow closet with a couple afghan/skunks in late flower so any scent the VKs would be producing is overpowered by the heavy skunk. I will say that when they were in early veg (I'm talking, under 10 inches) they stunk like they had been flowering a month. I will most likely be able to better answer that question in a few weeks when the afghan/skunks are harvested and only the VKs remain though i have heard they are actually stronger smelling in veg.

Speaking of smells, I have been walking my property for the past several days (looking for my lost cat) and have definitely smelled my grow from its second story home while I was on the ground level. My downstairs neighbors are aware of what i do but my next door neighbors may be noticing something. I have already started preparing myself for a visit from the local police department, hopefully they won't do the "break down my door" thing so i can politely invite them in, show them the grow space and my card, then see them off so they can go deal with actual crime :)

I hope your potential "visit" goes well. 8)

Picked up a 600 i need to install this week. Seeing good signs from the light swing. My veg cab. is happy. need to get some stuff done in there. Going to plumb the co2 to the light. I tried those co2 buckets, they work but not great, similar output to yeast and sugar for about 100 times the price, if the refills wernt almost as much as the system it wouldn't be so bad.

Shitty well better than nothing at this point. Guess i'll fix my regulator and run the bottle route.

Great thread!! Haven't read the whole thing yet. But have a question. Do you have to weave the plants through the SCROG before flowering? Or can you still weave them through the flowering process? Was going to let my plants reach a descent height and then flower them and start running them through the SCROG. Is this a bad idea?

well i put this one under my scrog a week b4 i put her into flower ,scrog sits about a foot above the bucket, I easily bent all branches with no issues(i pulled some wicked lst skills with screws and twine to get her under the scrog lol) and spent 2 hours fastening my maze, well worth the effort a scrog is so pretty!!

Try not to "weave" it makes it difficult to reposition the branch when you need to.

I didn't mean to pee in your Cheerios about the bucket, its just that i want to help steer serious growers away from that product, it was invented by a farmer trying to get rid of his over-supply of compost, the buckets cost a couple cents to make and he charges 130 for the setup and 100 for a refill, at best they will bring the ppm in your box up to 500-700, just seems like a ripoff when you think a regulator and tank cost the same over a 6 month time frame but you only have to buy them once.
