Licensed medicinal newb

Hello folks, Licensed medicinal grower here. I'm not exactly a first time grower but it's been since about 2008 or so but before that I grew several crops from bag seed all successful.

Fast forward to 2022 and I got my state medical license, wifey can't make me stop anymore lol.

I have purchased the vivosun 3x3 grow tent that comes with a 100 watt led and pretty much everything you need except seed and soil.

I've purchased Acapulco gold seeds from Holland (I know not the real strain from the 70's but a recreated specialty)

I plan on growing in fox farm soil because that's available in my area and using the fox farm tiger bloom for flowing (that's what I used before seemed to work good.)

What do y'all think of my setup? Will it work or am I wasting my time?

Thanks in advance, look forward to reading much on this forum.

With that light I’d stick with trying to get all you can out of just one plant. Then think about getting something a little bigger for next time. Something in the hlg line maybe. I got the 350r the other day, but haven’t done a full grow with it yet.

As others have mentioned with 100 true watts you have about 11 watts per square foot of light for the tent which is going to be insufficient for your needs. You could put one small plant right under the light and keep it's footprint small but you won't be utilizing the entire footprint of the tent. I'd try to get around 30-40 watts per sq ft at least so maybe in the area of 300 watts true power draw minimum, preferably more towards 350. You can save the 100 watt light for a clone room or a smaller veg cabinet down the road and then use your 3*3 as your flower room so it's not a complete loss if you can't return it. Make sure you allow plenty of room for stretch as I'm not sure on the genetics but I'm betting she's going to stretch a good bit and you'll need to flip plenty early to account for it. Probably at like 12" or so I'd guess but I'm not a sativa guy at all. I grow strictly indicas and heavily indica dominant hybrids. Hope it works out well for you.

The plan was to get a mother plant then do clones and keep it going with mother and clones in a separate chamber. That's how I used to do it many years ago all thanks to reading high times magazine.

So after talking with you guys the plan is to get a new light with at least 300 watts for flowing and use the 100 watt in the veg chamber.

Sometimes you just have to run your plan by people in the know to figure out exactly what you wanna do.

Appreciate the help!

That sounds like a great idea. Check out the best deals thread for some good deals on cheaper lights if budget is an issue. A bunch of guys have bought some Amazon lights for pretty cheap and are doing pretty well with them. Their are a lot better choices than blurple LEDs for cheap now. You just need to do a lot of research.

After some research I'm leaning towards this mars tsw 2000. Not too pricey and has good reviews:

Pic of my favorite plant, happy to be harvesting about 4 oz in a week or two, this alcopulco gold strain is fairly forgiving I think I over nuted the first week of flower but they bounced back and grew some nice buds:
