Light and heat problem

So yesterday i added a 42 watt cfl to my box, with the existing 2 26watts and 2 13watts. the temp almost immediatly rose five degrees... so i took out one of the 26 watts. Normally the the temp is about 73-76 degrees. With the addition of the 42 watt and subtraction of the 26 watt the temp to the mid to high 80s by the end of the day... is a high temp of around 88 too high? or sould all be okay. I have read many post on heat, but i'd like some personal input seeing as though most post say different things..lol. Thank in advance to anyone who relpys.

that's a little high, but if it's only getting to that temp latein the cycle it's not TOO bad. What kind of ventilation and exaust system do you have?

im using pc fans for both the intake and exhaust and the exhaust is hooked up to a carbon filter. Its a small grow space though 3ft tall, 22 inches deep and 18 inches wide.

the exaust fan is bigger/more powerful/on a higher setting than the intake right? If not, try to find a bigger one, or make sure that you're exausting more than you're taking in.

Could be worse, they'll survive in 88F - though it will stress them a little, and slow growth. It would be better for them if you can find a way to bring that temp down, without sacrificing the extra light. Maybe a bigger intake/exhaust?:leaf:

i was thinking about setting up a stronger vent/exhaust.. anything relatively small, quiet and cheap that you'd recommend? also, would adding an oscillating fan help?

Yep - it may not show much temp wise, but it will help disperse the heat on the plants. You should have one in there anyway - blowing indirectly at them, just enough to make them kind of shiver - it simulates wind and helps them grow strong stems.
I can't really recommend anything fan wise, I have a 8x7x8 room, and a 6x3x8 room, totally diff. ventilation than your stealth area. :peace:

You can check at Lowes and Home depot though - they do have inline fans, I think one of them has a 4", I got a 6" and a pair of 8" - thought of it because they are cheap - the 8" are only like $33 I think? So the smaller one would be less.

I was gonna try this early on in my first grow but solved my heat issue. Could work for you though.

Thanks, that looks pretty sweet actually! I might consider that if i up the wattage any more. I mostly solved the issue... it turns out that my intake was too close to the wall and not getting enough air to suck through it. I moved it forward about 2 inches and the temp dropped to 82 which is much closer to optimum temp.
