quick answer its cfl. careful your wattage, it may be a 100w Incandescent bulb replacement, so the actual wattage may be like 23 watts. but if it is 100w cfl, the cfl is better. less heat and more usable light. i would not use either for growing tomatoes though;)

Just incase ur not sure wat hes talkin bout, is it sumthin like THIS or THIS. May have got the kelvin range wrong on those, but just look at the wattage right now hehe. If its like the 1st one, then give urself a nice lil WOOT WOOT and grow on. :bigjoint:

what would you suggest for growing tomatoes, and i think your right. about the replacment bulb. it esasys it on the box. 100w but only uses 23w. ive asked if thats what it meant on here before and they said there fine. ive got 1 of the bulbs directly over 3 of my plants. not growing very fast either.. now i know why. thanks for bringing that up.

yeah its 23w
u need 2 150w clfs 1 blue 64k and 1 red 27k
or 600w hps
ive got 2 400w hps bulbs but the base's are so big i cant find a lamp or fixture for them. where do yall suggest i find one, and where can i find 150w thats actually 150w. and since i now know there only 23w. should i use the 60w halogen on one of them,

i would use an hid light like an hps or metal halide just because if I'M doing it, i'm doing it RIGHT for me. now i'm not saying that you can't grow a nice few small females, they just may need a few more bulbs. maybe a mix of red spectrum(3000k) and blue spectrum(6500k). they carry different spectrums at almost every reliable hardware store. if you can't find it you can ask around i'm sure SOMEONE will know what your talking about. if they look at you funny just say its for interior lighting and you need a few different kinds for different atmospheres:lol:. i'm sure they won't though. like they look at every costumer who wants more than one kind to light their house and think boy yeah he's growing something.
