Light burn?

how can you have a runoff ph of 4? Thats a totally insane value. You should only get that if you use mineral fert. for a long time.

I tested runoff and it came in at 4 pH...

I flushed the pot quite heavily with tap water 7-7.5 pH.

In the end I fed it with 1/3 dose at 6.0 pH, runoff was 6.5 pH. (it reversed?!?)

Will see in some time, if it made the difference.
Holy shit, seems way too acidic, for sure nutrient lockout I’m assuming but I’m no soil grower

My guess since there is no tray under the pot is he didn’t water till runoff so the water stayed in pockets and caused havoc

you don’t need to check run off when growing in soil. You don’t need to worry about PH in general unless if your starting water is abnormal. If you want to make sure your soil is okay you can do a slurry test.

the grow store soil sounds cool but I would ask them what amendments they’re adding. They Need to add oyster shell and or lime. If they can’t answer this then don’t buy their soil again.

I watered until runoff, but only a tiny amount, which I cleaned up. Now I put a tray under it and will water for more runoff.

As far as the nutrients go.. I mostly gave it tap water with pH down until at range 6.0-6.5. I sometimes gave it mineral nutrients at 1/3 dose, but it didn't make much of a difference so I mostly just used plain pH'd water.

Deficiencies started with the first leaves and have been there until now.

I ended up throwing the plant into the bin. I just couldn't be bothered anymore.

Got some seeds from a reputable seedbank and Canna Terra Pro soil.

Seeds have already sprouted, much faster than previous one and the soil is so so airy. When I added water to the growshop soil it then got these hard compacted chunks in it, the new soil just stays nice and fluffy. I think I'll have much better grow this time around. Fingers crossed! :)

A follow up post, so whoever ends up on this thread with similar problem gets the answer. I'm sure it was bad soil. With canna soil I never had any issues and will soon have a nice harvest :) Although canna is very high in N, so I would recommend some other soil, but it's still a very nice choice compared to that growshop soil.
