OK, I was using bad lighting, 4 40w flourcent lights for 12 plants kept at a distance of 4' above the plant. I changed that today and now I am using the recomended 6000 lumins per sq ft. I changed this lighting today at about 4pm. I went out for the evening and came back and some of the leaves are starting to curl/reach up. Is this good. Should i down the light a little or just leave it alone?

Your pics are fine. You worded it wrong, as with out pictures you could have been taken wrong, by using the word 'curl'. When your plants reach for the light, as in your pics, then they are happy and recieving the light... when there is stretching involved then the light is too far away. When they curl up then they are usually expressing heat stress. I hope you understand what I am trying to convey. They are looking good, once seed leaves are gone.. it is a good time to introduce growing nutrients. The following charts will help with your grow.

I have already started nutrients. These plants are almost 8 weeks old. I have had a rough time, first with the mistake using maricle grow, then not having the money for lighting. UGH.. Thanks for the assistance.

8 weeks? they look like 2 weeks maybe. one prob i see is soil compaction. get some perlite in your mix.

ah, did not know the age... as it appears that the 3rd pic still has the seed leaves on it. Could you elaborate on the MG soil? which kind please

yeah, t12 are not the best grow lights... either CFL at 6700 K or T5's are best for veg. Of course MH being better. (though that is a debated subject lol)

IM running 36 1600 cfl spriials @ 1600 lumins each, hoping that will get me through veg stage. is that pic that other guy posted really after one month?

I would almost have to say that the root system is not up to par, given the one still having seed leaves on it. I used MG MC 6 mo and watered from bottom up (so is not to burn the roots) and the roots took off nicely. I understand that there is a good root system going when they get their first 'true' leaves (either 5 or 7 fingers, can't remember off the top of my head).

meaning 1600 k? are the bulbs more yellow then white? Yes, grorite's pic shows his after one month... he has a green thumb that one!!

edit: I would have to say that there is not enough air getting to the roots.. though I see that you have some perlite in the soil. I like to use netty pots that are large enough for the soil to protect the roots from light but air can get to the sides. I do see the roots coming out and if they are exposed to the light they die off quickly... I transplant them as soon as I see hint of roots to the side.

Is that one plant? I started in mericle grow for 4 weeks with 4 40w t12 bulbs about 4' away. I also had a stress time in there from over watering. Does this make sence why I am where I am at right now?
yeah thats one with lots of lst
