light cycle for autos, What do you do?

I mostly do autos outside due to the climate I live in. It’s winter most of the time. Lol. So light scheduling isn’t really a variable. But inside I’ve heard some different recipes for success and curious what the auto guys on this site are up to.

My guide is as follows

Seedlings 24hrs for the first week
Vegetative 20/4 for the next 3 weeks
Transition I’ll go 18/6 first signs of pistols
Blloom 16/8 seems to really set up the resin
I’ll transition 1 hour a time for a week to the next step

Am I on or off lol

I understand the logic behind 24 hrs on but I'm a firm believer that the plants need rest so I would give them at least 4 hrs off I always do 18/6 from seed to finish they especially need the sleep in the seedling/early veg stage to establish good root structure.

The only thing with this belief is Mephisto genetics. Arguably one if not the top auto BREEDER(not pollon chucking an sf/1 seed for sale) and they use 24/0 on their strains. Kinda hard to deny the success they have using 24 hours of light but to each their own. I often see people say they believe their plants need a "rest", but never see how they came to the conclusion and what it's done vs a 24 hour grown plant. Not at all telling you your thoughts are wrong, but i don't see why anyone would want to take any light away from an auto when the grower has ZERO control on it's veg to flower transition and could benefit from as much light as possible.

I just do 18/6 I personally think they should get between 17 & 20 hours of light and between 4 & 7 hours of dark. Yes you can do 24/0 and you can do less than 17... But what's the point. Most people who are honest and have run 24/0 will say they didn't see a significant increase in yield. And if you want to run less than 17 hours on... Just do photos...

Some plants do require a dark period.... cannabis is not one of those, it's a C3 plant. As long as the lights are on it's in photosynthesis mode...which means it's growing....so for every 4 hours of light you deprive your plant of, you're losing 16.6% of the growth time available to your plant each day. 24/0 all the way.

Yes of course this is all just my own intuition based on the majority of nature, I even turn the fans off to simulate the dying down of the wind at night, try to make as little noise in the room as possible, guess that's just a quirk of mine I know they're not fully conscious when the lights are on. I have never grown 24/0 I tried it a few times but after a few days I would get paranoid about the lights getting too hot and the wear and tear on the ballast so no I can not in anyway deduce or infer on the difference between 24/0 and 18/6

What is your medium and what genetics are you using? Those things are out of control man kudos to you! I was thinking they were some 3' tall string beans yielding an ounce or two.
THX magic strains bubba trouble and bt x gwk. Medium is a blend of Just Natural & Burpee grow mix now use Happy Frog

My understanding is autos are a C3 plant in that they absorb CO2 even when lights are on. Since their life-cycle is already predetermined, you only have a finite window where you can get really good yields by simply leaving the lights on for 24/0. Shutting off the lights for 6 hours simply means smaller buds.

22/2 weed benefits from dark, resspire much easier, also plants do things during sleep that they help in the long run, converting energy to carbs while lights out.
